While we will have a much better idea of who our best player(s) are after the Iowa game, right now I believe that we have 2 playmakers on Defense and they would be our two best players.

They are imho Alvin Bowen and Allen Bell. Right now I give the edge to Bowen as he is always around the ball. He may be a bit undersized, but the guy makes plays.

Allen Bell is a juco transfer but he is electric. A couple more games of experience and he could be really good! We will have to hope he doesnt regress. The guy plays tight defense and doesnt give much of a cushion (unlike McCarneys teams) and he looks like he will be a difference maker with the ball in his hands on special teams.

I didn't think Bowen had that great of a game last Thursday.

My vote for best player after game one would have to be JJ, hands down.

Bowen is a good player but he sort of got lost in the Kent State game, didn't hear much of his name after awhile. But I think Jon Banks deserves a little bit of credit and it was way way way way too early to say that about Bell. I thought Singleton played better, but Bell looked good.

Todd Blythe, if we are talking about offense too.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, or maybe I am, but I am getting more and more disappointed with Blythe.

He has excellent size and good hands. That being said, I am thinking more and more that he isn't that great of a FOOTBALL player. You have to do more than just catch a big pass from time to time to contribute to your team. I am on the verge of giving him a new nickname, Randy Moss.

Oooooh thems fightin words. I think he will step up. If not, the NFL wont come a calling.

Bowen is overrated right now. Yes he had a ton of tackles last year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he lead the league in missed tackles as well. He doesn't necessarily provide a beatdown on other players, more of a grab on and toss them to the ground. That didn't appear to change from last year as of last Thursday's game. He still whiffed a lot.

On offense I'll go with JJ and RJ, and defense I'll go with Jesse Smith and Rashawn.

Jo Vanstom. Nobody in the croud could waive there Twister Towel quite like Joe waived his towel on the sidelines. Joe=Better towel waiver than 50,000 other towel waivers.

Just ask this guy:

He made the mistake of sitting in the section just behind Vanstom!

Todd is the best player on the offensive side of the ball and JJ may be there soon, but I do not think that Blythe imacts the game enough times to be our best player. I would like to see him touch the ball 6 times AND have 10 passes thrown his way with at least 1 or 2 thrown deep.

I am glad that someone finally is starting to watch what Todd 'Randy' Blythe does, or should I say doesn't do, when he isn't the primary receiver

Best player to me means who has the best skill set to go on to the next level, the NFL. Without a doubt, that is Blythe. Sure his blocking sucks, but that can be taught, and some receivers turn out to be great blockers as their career progresses. He reminds me of Ed McCaffrey with the Broncos, who had a great NFL career.

Bowen might have a shot at the NFL as well. Those are the only 2 I can think of that would even be considered to play on Sundays.
