Among other items in Shatell's column in this mormings World Herald is the following tid bit:

"It's not too soon to speculate on divisional lineups. We assume that Nebraska would fit with Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern. With 12 teams, the rotation could look a lot like the Big 12's rotation: five division games and a rotation of three in the other division every two years. So NU would play Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State at the same rate it plays Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M now."

As is known by Big 12 members, NU never played OU and UT in the same regular season. The schedules were simply manipulated so they didn't have to, unlike ISU and others. I was once challenged on this point by a NU fan who told me that computers make up schedules, and NU has no control over that. I guess he forgot that computers do what ever people tell them to do.

At any rate, I'm just wondering how easily Mr. Osborne and the NU faithful will be able to broker some kind of deal to ensure that they play only one of the three in any one season; or no more than two. I remember Iowa not having to play MU and OSU for two seasons a couple of years ago, but that rarely happened if ever before that.

I couldn't care less about Iowa right now. Go away.

There are a couple fairly lengthy threads about this on HN, it seems like the only wild-card would be Penn State. If you put PSU, OSU, and Michigan in the same division it would make sense geographically, but would upset the competetive balance, as it would more than likely be one of those three coming out of that division every year. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that the Big 10 now has four programs with 800+ wins, and it might not make sense to put three of them in the same division.

It's easy to see a scenario play out where Penn State ends up in the West. They all ready have to fly to all of their road games anyway, and I can't imagine Lincoln is any more than 40 minutes or so farther in the air than Cedar Rapids.

Someone please move this to the In-State Rivals board so we don't have to look at it.

I can see your argument. However, what's Nebraska's incentive to play difficult non-conference games. They'll sell out their stadium, and they will be on TV while their opponent is D-II Villanova. Expect the cake-walk non-conference games for 4 easy wins and then you have Minnesota and Northwestern for your bowl bid. I think the worst you could see Nebraska do when Michigan, Ohio St and Penn State are on the schedule would be 6-6, every other year they would get at least 9 wins.

And it starts! :biglaugh:

This is the first of many issues that bugeaters will want to go exactly how they want it.
If not, get ready for ---> and ---> :realmad:

They will show their true big red colors right away

They will want Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State all in the other division AND the perfect schedule rotation

My hope is that the BigTen bends them over and treats them like a fresh fish in the federal pen :cute:

Uh, Iowa?

The post was about the traditional schedule manipulation NU is known for, not Iowa.

Or did you miss that some where along the way.

It's about the Big 10... who cares. I don't.

My only comment, bringing that question to this board with our current
uncertainty shows a complete lack of respect.
This thread should be closed and you should be banned.

Agree THH should be banned. He is out of control.

Actually if you remember when Penn State entered the league, and they started the staggered scheduling where they missed playing teams for two year stretches, they made provisions that the big rivalries (read OSU-Michigan) were exempt.

They will make this work. And I don't think that natural geographic boundaries will matter.

Please take this thread off the main board. And ban as you see fit. It has no place here.

HAHAHAHAHA coming from the dude that sits and watches old Iowa game replays? You love to care about Iowa and obsess over them.

You are sad, to put Cyclones in your name, yet you are obviously not an Iowa State fan. I get that you think that you are clever, but you really aren't.
