We all know football is driving the conference realignment, but don't you think one the biggest factors putting ISU in a hole when it comes to the conference realignment is geography?
Big 10 - well we know ISU is not going there, even if so, before Nebby - would be the furthest west team, from a major conference perspective it would be the best fit geographically
Big East - Currently would be a western outlier
PAC 10 - not even close before the current B12 schools
MWC - Closest is maybe Colorado State?
WAC - trips to Hawaii? (see MWC - ISU = outlier)
Conf USA - furthest North and West
SEC- not even worth mentioning
ACC - see SEC
MAC - might be the best fit geographically - but also one of the weakest conferences in FBS sans sunbelt
heck the best fit geographically is the Missouri Valley - this is actually the only conference we are not on the fringes of geographically - but of course that makes no sense from a football perspective (or other sports really)
