Montel Marion in trouble again..

I thought he would have straightened out after he went and took some baseball bats to some fools back in high school or whenever.

speaking of Long, he hasnt straightened up after this last time either... I really hope Jackson suspends him for longer than he originally intended to. Im not going to say any more, except he deserves everything he gets.

He gone.

What little hope we had for a 4-peat probably leaves with him. But it was the right decision for all involved.

No it doesn't, he had a very good draw last year and got extremely lucky with upsets on his side of the bracket last year to reach the finals. He wasn't the 2nd best wrestler at 141 last year and wouldn't have been this coming year. He probably would have been an AA this coming year though, it is a loss but not as big as most will think. Most will look at his 2nd place finish but won't look at how he was able to get there in the first place. If he is on the other side of the bracket he isn't a finalist and probably isn't even an AA.

As it stands, he finished second. Your assumption that he would not even reached AA status if he were on the other side of the bracket is just that -- an assumption.

You're right he did finish 2nd, but my point is you couldn't count on him being a finalist next year like you could with Metcalf so he probably wasn't going to score as many points at Nationals next year as he did this year.

Point well taken. I guess I'm saying that Iowa needs all the team points it can get if it wants to win a fourth consecutive title. Montell likely would have provided a solid (if not substantial) amount of team points.

Oh, well. Marion's departure does nothing to change the fact that Iowa has a very talented squad. Inexperienced, yes, but the talent is there.
