Twister Towels!

I don't love nor dislike the idea. I do think it will be fun and we'll have ours at each game - just for the sole purpose of hoping other fans do and we look like one unified group.

I'll be bringing mine...
And I like that they're giving them out at the first game rather than homecoming! :jiggy:

I think this is actually one of the best ideas marketing has ever come up with. After all what better way can the fans represent a Cyclone than with 50,000 towels swirling around. That's why we don't have a mascot dressed up in a rubber Cyclone outfit, that would look stupid. Of all the times we've seen this done before (e.g the Steelers' terrible towels), this applies best to us. If you've ever been in an arena where everyone has one of these, its actually pretty cool. It does create a little bit of a breeze.

If the towels would make the next 6 days go faster, I would be all for it.
Speaking of creating a breeze- I've often wondered on long FGs if 1 side of the stadium all blew out at the same time and the other half inhaled, could the path of the ball be affected?
Would any of that be noticed other than the blowing half passing out.

Its not that bad of an idea. Although, you have to wonder about giving them out the first game of the season. There will be a few people not making it just because it is a week night game. Although, we did have over a years notice on this one.

I really think the UNI game would be the game to give these out. Bigger crowd.....

Maybe all the lazy farts in my section will get off their butts and do something. I love it when they yell at us to sit down.

I would not be surprised if any leftovers were given out at the next game. And of course, I'm sure they'll have 'em on sale. :)

That's what I love about my section (20). Its a younger crowd with most being Varsity members. It's almost like a mini-student section because we rarely sit down. And everyone has alcohol in them so its usually a good time.

I like the idea and would like to get mine! The only home game I'll be able to make this year will be the UNI game. Does anyone know if there is a possibility of purchasing them after the season opener?

I am only now starting to keep my eyes open during field goals and extra points.

A very interesting point. I would think the entire stadium might go unconscious though. The inhaling half would be breathing in all of the carbon dioxide or alcohol from the other half.

I actually emailed Pollard on this idea last year along with giving out those thunder sticks but he mentioned to me how expensive it was to do something like that. And he brought up the free T-shirts to the students as being a cost the absorbed as well. So I'm extremely glad that he and the marketing department figured out a way to make at least the towels happen this year!

Can't wait to get my towel! It will prominently displayed at work when not being waved like crazy at games. You wouldn't beleive the Hogeye crap all over this place!

I am section F, it is mostly families and older people. Good seats, but it is not roudy enough for me.

Umm, no. Think about how small of an area your lungs are.. You have what 4liters of lung capacity. Take 50,000 x 4 liters. That is 200,000,000 cm^3 of air. Divide that into all that open space inside the stadium. I took 150 yards from end to end. 150 yards tall, and 150 yards wide (ease of calculations) == 2,580,372,645,696 cm^3 of air inside the stadium. You could not feel it a few inches away.

You're such a fun-hater!

Actually everyone wouldn't be trying to move all of the air in stadium. Everyone would focus on the ball to create a concentrated stream of air. The force alone could send the ball sailing over Hilton and Lincoln Way, possibly to Story City.

Yeah I doubt it would work, but it would be fun to try. We could do a trial run in the pregame and see if we could get the flags to move.
