I have nothing but respect for those University of Iowa football players about to be drafted starting today. Those kids worked hard, got good coaching and are very prepared to take their skills to the next level. Great for them. They deserve anything they get in life because they worked for it.

But really, DM Register, was this headline really necessary?

Iowa, ISU at opposite ends of NFL draft

The NFL draft starts tonight. Hawkeye offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga could be a top 10 pick. ISU is likely to be blanked.

This was on the Register Web page, so I don't know how the story appeared in the paper .

Here is the story:

NFL draft: Hawkeyes' Bryan Bulaga could be top-10 pick Thursday | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register

Again, why do they want to **** people off?

Nothing new from the rag. They've always had a hokeye slant. Granted, the hoks do have some beasts going into the draft this year.

To be fair though, they interviewed Rhoads, and he explained that this needs to change. I think the article was SUPPOSED to be more directed towards ISU trying to improve, and Iowa already being there, not "Hey, Iowa rocks, ISU sucks."

Just my 2 pennies

They do it because they GET AWAY WITH IT. I guess ISU fans are so used to getting slammed by the RAG they shrug and move on.

I also thought Keeler's "NU to the Big 10/11" was another subtle example of disrespect to ISU. Keeler, an Iowa sportswriter, living 35 miles south of Ames just can't seem to make an argument for poor ole ISU "in the Big 10."

BOTTOM LINE: Make sure you cancel your subscription to the RAG and tell them why.

As always, a calm, rational, well thought out response. Nicely done.

What would be your argument for ISU to the Big Ten?

Not even most of the Cyclone fans here can make a rational argument.

or a mid-20's pick.

Obsessing again? Isn't it about time for you to re stack your hawk baseball cards or something? Or keep replaying the Bulaga draft highlights . . over and over again?

Maybe because there is no argument for ISU to the Big 10.? The Big 10 would gain absolutely nothing from adding ISU.

And you think that there is one for Nebraska? They don't meet any of the academic requirements, they aren't considered a research institution, and they have an extremely low population base. But, hey, I guess they were good back when they allowed partial qualifiers.

It's kind of funny that some ISU fans think the Rag is biased towards Iowa. There are lots of Hawk posters who feel it's the opposite.

Maybe the Rag just hates us all equally.

Do you ever post anything that isn't a *****, whine, complaint, or insult? Just for the record, I know what kind of answer you're going to give (one of those four, probably the last one), but I find your posts to be absolutely hysterical.

Really? . . how do I even know you are a Cyclone fan?? You don't sound like one. Prove it to me.

He's not.

I'm not?

I'm an ISU student who went to every home football game last year, and own more ISU shirts than there are days of the week. I've lost my voice at many Cyclone sporting events.

Just because I also like Iowa doesn't mean I don't support the Clones.

If you really want to be a dbag about it an question my fandom, go ahead and send me a PM. It's not really necessary to ruin a thread because of it.

Let's all take it easy. I'm a Cyclone fan that would love to be in the B10 but Southern is right; we don't have what the B10 is looking for. Academically we can hang but still wouldn't be at the top as a research university so the B10 has no use for us. It doesn't matter how competitive we could be, the B10 already has it's university from the state of Iowa.

If Purdue/Indiana and MSU weren't already in the B10 they wouldn't be getting added either.

Gee, I wonder if anyone on this site would have read the article if it didn't mention ISU. It's almost like their goal was to make more of their readers interested in reading their newspaper.

Weird. Yea, they hate all things cyclones. It wasn't about readership at all. Just an easy way to take a cheap shot at lil ol poor us who all media everywhere hates. :jimlad:

A wee bit cranky are we? I've never once seen you stand-up for ISU. The hoks, yes, but not ISU. Also, if you were such an ISU fan, why don't you post, with regularity, on the main board? Serious question. Honest to God, I thought you were full-on hok fan because of the above reason. By the way, I hope you aren't really that excited over me saying you're not an ISU fan. It's just the internet and you don't know me from the next guy, so exchanging angry PM's is as worthless as a do-do flavored lolly-pop.

Exactly. It's not a knock on ISU, it's just the fact that this is a $$$ move for the Big Ten, and with the small population base of Iowa, and weak TV footprint, it just wouldn't make financial sense.

I'm not worked up, I just don't want to turn this whole conversation into "You're not an ISU FAN !@!@#!!!!!!" deal. You can believe me or not I guess, I don't really care either way. I'm not going to lose any sleep, thinking, "ZOMG, Stewo doesn't think I like ISU! How can I prove it to him."
