Even if he is licensed, why in the world would he put a gun in his carry-on?

He must not have known it was there, otherwise he is one of the dumbest people on the planet. I mean, NFL players are not strangers to flying. He would know the rules.

I can't imagine that "I forgot it was in there," constitutes a valid defense, but I'm no lawyer.

If a guy's dumb enough to bring it on the plane, he has to be dumb enough to think this defense makes sense.
