MLB: Tracy Gets Final Cubs Roster Spot

Millar would have been good to keep though. Ask for a triple A option and then as a backup when someone gets hurt. BUT I think he would have said no
I think this was the logical choice, but without reading too much between the lines, I hope this isn't because Tracy can play 3rd and they're not sure if Ramirez is 100% healthy.
Yeah, hopefully he's not going to have to fill in for any extended amount of time. It's crucial that D-Lee, Ramirez and Soriano remain healthy and in the lineup.
Yeah, health is key.
They said they asked Millar what he wanted and that he wanted his release to see if he could catch on somewhere else. I don't know if he wanted to go to triple A. (Not that Des Moines isn't desirable!)
Tracy should be a good pickup here though. He can spell Aram and DLee and he'll prove to be a nice DH. Hopefully it works out nice.

On paper, the Cubs have everything it takes to challenge the Cardinals right up until the end of the season, but we absolutely have to get 145-155 games out of Lee, Soriano & Ramirez. It would also be nice if Soto rebounded from his sophomore slump and Fukudome, Byrd, Nady & Colvin added some run production to the OF spots.
The staff has to stay healthy though, that's for sure. The bullpen scares me more than anything else. Marmol has some of the best stuff in the bigs, but he just flat out looses control too much. We need a guy to lock down the 9th and Marmol just couldn't do that well enough last year.
I don't know if there are too many teams that could afford to lose their best players for any extended amount of time. I was watching the game when Ramirez got hurt last year and I know that it was trouble from the moment he hit the ground.
Hopefully either the cubs or the brewers (hopefully both) can put the cards in their place and prevent them from contending this year.
Tracy is a good clubhouse guy too so I don't think it was a bad move either way you went. Tracy is younger and a little more versatile than Millar probably too which factored into the decision. I hope the Cubs just play the guys that produce and don't get caught up in contracts. The most competition will be at 2B and OF. Colvin has hit the crap out of the ball and I don't want to see him go to waste if Soriano or Fukudome get off to slow starts. Fontenot will be on a short leash probably meaning if Baker hits well off the bench or Castro tears it up in AAA that spot is the most likely to see a change at.
Bullpen scares me too, there are 3 or 4 rookies I believe and we all know Marmol can be a little wild at times. Grawbow and Marshall should be able to hold down the pen from the left side at least and hopefully Caridad can settle in as the right handed setup guy and pitch like he did in his 14 games last year. I'm curious what happens when Lilly comes back, with Russell they already have 3 lefties in the pen so I can't see Gorz going to the pen unless they sent Russell down so Silva has his work cut out to stay in the rotation I think.

Ahh, the game at Milwaukee. Diving for a ground ball. Don't remind me. I believe it was a Friday night game and I was settling in for a couple beers. If memory serves me correct, it was also Randy Wells first start, but I could be wrong about that.
