I haven't heard anything lately about possible asst. coaches. Do we still need one? If I had my wish, I would love an Iowa State guy brought in. My dream come true would be Jeff Hornacek. A close second would be Hoiberg. I think their NBA experience would be huge for recruits, and they could maybe teach how to shoot free throws. But most importantly, they bring back a little history of Iowa State basketball that many of us loved. I highly doubt that either are even an option, but that's who I'd love to see brought in. Anyone else heard anything or have any ideas?

I'd be royally ****** if either of them were brought in. Bring in someone who can recruit and recruit well. We need it BADLY.

From what I understand they had somebody hired but he chose to coach somewhere closer to his immediate family.

Jeff Grayer. We need a pipeline to the state of Michigan with him. Flint, Detroit...etc... (Didn't he speak with Greg when he was first hired about any assistant openings?)

Isn't he coaching at Cent. Michigan Right now as an assistant? I think he would be a great fit in getting quality athletes to the B12 and at ISU.

I would be very happy with Grayer

I heard there we have someone in the bag who is from New York, coaches in Indiana, and wants to come here in order to be closer to his family.

Eh, I'm not that worried about recruiting. I think we should bring in someone with a doctorate in psychology. We seem to recruit some decent talent and frequently get who we're after. If we had a psychologist on the team we might actually keep the guys content enough to stay around for 4 years and develop some more toughness.

I'd love an assistant coach that can maybe teach rebounding, offensive sets and let's throw in some presure defense.

....Come to think of it, Grayer was Defensive Player of the Year and led the Big 8 in scoring the same year (but somehow wasn't named player of the year.....) I'd be happy with Grayer!

needs to be a pipleline to every seedy AAU team in the country.

Unfortunatley we picked a bad year to try to hire that kind of assistant, the new NCAA rule basically says you can hire a new coach, but that new coach cannot bring kids he is tied to to the program. So if we hire a AAU coach with a few stud kids looking for a place to play college ball, we could hire the coach, but not get the kids. Last year this type of hire could be made, this year it cannot. It is the NCAA way of trying to clean up recruiting, at least the ugly recruiting with coaches and handlers getting jobs.

You wouldn't be referring to the former K State NO GRADUATION WONDER COACH, now would you? Just who did you have in mind as an example?

I would suspect we won't hear anything until after the final four and the coaches convention that goes on at the same time.

I don't care whether they can recruit. Bring in someone who instills some toughness and pride, someone who brings an edge to the team. Honestly, someone with a mean streak, but also a guy who the players know is there for them. I'm thinking someone with a similar style to Frank Martin, who, I believe, worked as an assistant to Huggins. I know, just a dream...

We need someone with roots to the east coast, specifically New York. It would also be nice to get someone on the AAU circuit.

I see what you did here......:biglaugh:

Can we still hire a recruits Dad?

I say don't hire one and put the salary in a CD and gain interest for one year. Then see where the chips fall.
