McDermott confirms that Hamilton and Buckley will transfer

Also I bet Hamilton ends up at Colorado State. He is freinds with Wes Eichmeyer and Colorado state seems to like our wash outs.

Why do you guys all pile on KG?? All the guy does is defend Cyclone athletics. He is related to the head coach as well. So what the hell do you guys expect him to do?? He also give major inside scoop on the program and who we are recruiting. Then you guys pile on him when he tries to look at the possitive side. Leave the guy alone.

He gets piled on because he is arrogant and condescending. If he made his points with being a smartass all of the time, he wouldn't be catching so much flak right now.

Re: Player losses and We still keep out coach

This thread is different in that it examines the similiarities between ISU and Iowa MBB programs.

We all had alot of fun making fun of the Hawkeye early this year. I thought ISU would finish in the Top 6 of the Big 12 and everyone thought Iowa would not win a Big 10 game. Fun was had by all, now, ISU fans need to brace for the onslaught. It could get really bad around here.

I just got home and read the news. What?!!!! I don't care anymore. Fire him, keep him, do whatever the hell you want Pollard; I don't care anymore. My focus will now entirely focus on ISU football. This is unbelievable.

I would of gave McDermott one more year to prove things if he could won Harrison Barnes lottery

No...he defends the atrocity known as the MBB program.

defends it blindly.

those that defend a staff the is driving the program into the ground are the true 'bad fans' we could do without.

I would say he is less blind than a lot of people jumping on Mac. Not that he is correct, just less blind. He knows more about the program than most of us do. Besides that he hasn't even posted here so why call him out?

Hamilton is far from a wash out. He was a legitimate starting center in the Big 12 this season. We are going to miss him greatly.

Site rules regarding insulting coaches, players and other members are still in effect.

It really is the best time to fire GMAC now. ISU is buried in the rebuilding process already. Next season's key players are less likely to leave given their individual situation.

Next year JVB is a senior having used his redshirt season. Dendy is a senior with the eligibility clock ticking. Garrett is a senior, could transfer, sit and play his last year somewhere else, but that is not likely. Christopherson already transferred and sat a year, so him giving up an entire year of eligibility and sitting again is not likely.

That leaves Colvin, well Colvin probably ain't coming back so no need to convince anyone otherwise.

Might as well get a coach in here who can at least have a few upper classmen at his disposal and that are less likely to ditch on him like everybody did on GMAC.

Anybody else starting to think all the earthquakes are somehow GMAC's fault too?

My major concern with firing McDermott is that we'll be stuck with the next guy through 2015. If he can't get the job done, then we've set back the AD financially AND we still have a crap team. It seems a risky maneuver for an athletic department that is short on funds to begin with.

I don't buy the argument that if we keep McDermott that we'll dig ourselves into such a hole that we won't be able to get out. Hilton still gets recognition nationally for being a great venue for college basketball, and we're not that far removed from some really good seasons. I really don't think that 2 more years is going to ruin the program.

I say go get Cuonzo Martin down at Missouri State and end this Gmac era. Gmac could go down and coach Missouri State. I think he is over his head.

yup, i was fine with McD staying, but when a player like Ham leaves, how the heck do you stay with this coach? unreal... no matter how many brackins or wes's, or gilstraps he brings in it doesnt matter... we never have any depth because of transfers... cant win that way. this sucks... never in a million years would i expect hamilton to leave... wtf?!

This may be the player we could least afford to lose, IMO.

Debateable but I dont totally disagree. Yes our chances to make post-season just took a huge hit. But they were never very good to begin with. At all.
Ham's transfer shouldnt be the "writing on the wall". The record from this year should have been.

I'm done... McDermott should be fired. I've been on the guy's side for as long as possible, but how do you build a program if you can't keep decent players and develop them. I'm really disappointed that Ham is gone. I expected him to develop into a good player. JP's email server should be flooded...

Also Seriously. No offense but Hamilton could not get it done with Brackins, Gilstrap, and him on the floor so I am curious what we are going to miss about any of these players at this point.

Knowing what you know now, is it any shock that we didn't land Barnes? Remember, Barnes practiced with our team, he hung out with them, he plays with GMac's son. Barnes had a real inside look at our team. He had a front row seat to witness the behind the scenes reason that we have a losing program with massive turnover. There are clearly some issues with the very core of our program, ad anybody who has a chance to see those up close would be a fool to come here. Especially someone with the options that HB had.

I didn't think we had a shot at the NCAAs next year with everyone back. Now we are down CB, MG, Ham, and Buck. And honestly, I expect at least Dendy or Colvin to bolt before it is all over. I don't care of the most we can afford is to buyout Mac and hire some up and coming high school coach, it can't get any worse. We are in the 7th level of Hell here.

Iowa State, officially a football school since 2009!

The big question now is, can I change my vote on our o/u of 13 wins next year to under?
