I see us a game or two over .500
Boozer looked like his game went up a notch or two or three before his injury. Colvin should improve, plus Vanderbeken and Big Ham will do justice to the inside game. With Scotty, Dendy and the Juco guys coming in, The team looks respectable, just hope they play that way.
Yeah he will be backSo is it for sure now that Vanderbeken will be coming back next year or what's the deal with him right now?
Last year we won 4 conference games, returned our best player, added the pre-season pick for newcomer of the year and will probably win 3 conference games.
If Brackins and Gilstrap both leave we will not have any returning players who averaged over 10 ppg. Factor in that we will probably lose 2-3 other underclassmen since we have done so every other year that McDermott has been here. I'm sure none of our incominig players will come close to being named newcomer of the year.
Net result - most B12 teams have more talent than we do this year, most of them return more talent than us, most of them will be bringing in more talent than us.
I guess that leaves us in last place.
I thought it was known that some players could handle coming off the bench, while others need the title of starter to be happy.Well Mac certainly thought that he was worse than Lucca (because he played a lot less and didnt start). Nobody on this board was every thrilled with Lucca's game other than his 3pt shot occasionally. So he was a back up of one of the worst starting Big 12 shooting guards.
I don't see CB coming back......he will probably be at least a 2nd round choice, and even if he does not get drafted there is still Europe or the NBDL if he could sign as a free agent. Plus, he is getting not getting any younger. I really don't see what another year under GMac would do for him.
Gilstrap...who knows? I have doubts the NCAA would grant him another year. He did say that if they did, he would return, but he has a family to think about too, so he may have just been saying that so as not to start any kind of controversy.
I still see the possibility of more player defections. I could see up to 4 leaving....Colvin, Dendy, Buckley and Hamilton.
There does not appear to be any outstanding recruits coming in, plus GMac is going the JC route again......which is always iffy at best.
I would say an even worse record than this year. Might win about the same number in conference, thanks to Nebraska and Colorado still being in the leauge, but I think there will be a worse record in the non-conference. I don't see next year's team jelling very quickly at all. I will predict an overall record of 12-19 in regular season.
