After the last decade...yes...if a change is made there is an unbelievable amount riding on the hire. WE CAN'T WIFF.
I like Davis but I don't see how pollard sells hiring a coach fired from somewhere else.
Everyone seems to be on board with BG who was fired at Kentucky. I would be completely on board with Mike Davis, he's doing a terrific job at UAB.
And I really don't get the Billy love. Maybe it would work, who knows. I'm just against bringing in any coach who was fired. Just a tough sell right now. We need to inject winning in to this program, to me that is a coach who hasn't been fired.
Yeah, that is one of the downside that I see to him. Also he lacks connections to the state of Iowa or the Big 12. On the flip side he has coached in the midwest (Indiana). He also doesn't have the "baggage" the Billy G has.
I totally understand your point. But here's the counter-argument (not that I agree): they lost at two of the top all-time programs in the country - Indiana and Kentucky - where expectations are through the roof year in and year out. I mean, they might fire Crean....that tell's you the delusion that Indiana suffers. And KU had to sell their soul to Calipari to get back in the national title picture.
I'm not really high on BG....I guess I'm not into recycling another Big 12 coach.
There are lots of coaches that have been fired that would be great.

And injests alcohol frequently. Not gonna happen. He's a helluva coach though. I'd take him. Administration won't.
I understand that reason for not wanting or going for Billy, but that has nothing to do with not "injecting winning" because he was fired.

Oh, i agree. I take nothing from him for getting fired from KY. His behavior is what lost his job more than anything. HE IS A HELL OF A COACH! I would love to have him here!
Tony Bennett just makes a lot of sense to me. I think he might leave UVA to come to ISU for the right price.
