MLB: Why I Like Kerry Wood

He's always great to the fans.

When on rehabs in Des Moines, he's was always very accomadating as possible with autographs, pictures, acknowledges the crowd when walking off the field (unlike many other big leagers who stop through).

When he part ways with the Cubs, didn't he take a full two page add out in the Trib thanking the fans?

Big charity guy. Probably kept his mouth shut plenty of times when he had reason to open it.

Favorite of mine as well, and for his actions outside his pitching.

Even as a White Sox fan...I liked how Wood handled himself (I just read that...hilarious)! Can't say I felt that way about Prior!

Heard some stories from some of the regulars at the ballpark that when down here, Prior was a bit of a jerk to the other players. And during one of Kerry's more prolonged stints in the minors, he took the team out for dinner on occassion. You're right - he seems like an all around good guy.

Not sure he's said a bad word about the Cubs even after he got released.

I wonder if he wants to come back to close for the Cubbies.... we're in desperate need of someone we can count on...

I'd love to have him back after his current contract expires, but he would likely have to take a substantial pay cut.
