Should I stay a fan of the NFL?

Serious question.

This may sound like sour purple grapes after the loss today, I freely admit that.

But after watching overtime, and the 3 horrible calls that helped the Saints, 2 with clear cut review even, how can I watch games anymore and feel like the league doesn't have at least a thumb on the scale for one team.

Yes, the Vikes fumbled the ball all over the place, and Favre threw two picks, but anybody watching that game would probably say the better team didn't win.

Whatever, I am just venting, but I seriously am considering giving up on the NFL. Just too much to deal with anymore.

I'll take one Favre mistake in return for a GREAT year of quarterback play the Vikings simply have not seen until this year.

The only really bad call I saw was the pass interference when the ball was clearly not catchable.

As a Cyclone fan, the Vikings were my outlet!!!!! I can't even find happiness in them winning now!

What'd you think of that roughing the passer call on Favre?

What game were you watching? Objective viewer here, not a fan of either of those teams. The refs were fine and all of the reviews in OT ended how they should have ended.

and see, the rest of the game, I was wondering if the league had made a call to the refs to get Favre into the superbowl. A late hit call while the play was still live? a roughing the passer call when the player had him wrapped up before he threw the ball?

Care to elaborate?

to blame this loss on the refs is hysterical. you had a chance to kick a game winning field goal, had 12 guys in the huddle, and then threw late across the middle. what did you expect? the team that made fewer mistakes won IMO

The Vikings got hosed 3 times in a row, ref's deserve honorable mention in the Saints win, and I am not a Vikings fan either. Bad PI call, 4th and inches was stuffed, and that catch on 3rd and long for the Saints was questionable.

Granted, you have 5 turnovers you don't deserve to win, but still...

AS I said before, the only bad call I saw was the passing interference.

same here - I'm a Jags fan (ugh) and I saw no conspiricy-theory calls.

seemed like the Vikes just gave it away at the end - everything in me thought they were going to win it on that last drive. that was their own fault on multiple levels.

What is the NFL's incentive to have some kind of conspiracy to keep the Vikings out of the Super Bowl? You don't think they would have liked to hype Peyton vs Favre and talk about him probably retiring for the next two weeks?

Forward progress resets after you fumble.
Unless that guy was the world's fastest back tracker, that was not a catchable ball.

I don't think there was any where close to visual evidence to overturn either one of those.

I think he might be talking about when the RB jumped over the pile on 4th down and the ball was jarred loose and pushed backwards, but he held on. It was close if the ball made it past. Maybe the uncatchable ball, also.

But what do I know. I was rooting for Favre, but good the city of NO.

It always kills me how people overreact to these games. I understand the frustration, believe me I do. Just think Scott Norwood and you know how I feel.

The thing is, I'd rather be in your situation than most. You had a shot at the Super Bowl. I know it sucks now.

It could be worse. You could have a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in over a decade. A team that's last winning season was 7 or 8 years ago. A team that fired its coach mid-season only to hire a guy who got canned by Kansas City two weeks before the season starts. At least your teams star player isn't a tempremental wide receiver that drops the ball as much as he catches it.

So, be upset about it now and know that the Vikings are in much better shape than most teams.
