MLB: Anxious About Holliday.

From everything I heard, the cards are the only team serious about signing him. I think the possibility is better then most expect. The thing is that boras will wait as long as possible trying to find a second team so that he can drive up the price.

As a cards fan, i don't expect him to sign with the Birds. If he really wanted to be a Cardinal, he would have already signed. They offered him more than a fair contract and it is apparent that he cares more about money than winning. For every dollar he drives up his contract he takes away the possiblity of signing another player to help make a W.S. run.

I would like to see him there, but I don't think it is going to happen.

I'm a huge cardinals fan. I think the cards have to sign him or another bat give Pujols some protection in the batting order. With DeRosa going to the Giants they really need to keep him around.

Chips starting to fall... Bay to San Fran? Cardinals looking to Felipe Lopez to fill the role of DiRosa and play Lf if they can't get Holliday. No other team will match the Cards unless the Mets panic.

As a brewer fan...I hope that one of two things happen.

1. I hope that they don't get him. He would make them pretty good offensively. (on the plus side, I know that he has problems catching routine balls in the outfield)

2. If they do get him, I hope that he is the next Soriano.

Derosa was a steal at $12 mill/2yrs for the Giants.
:wideeyed: I don't understand why the Cards didn't sign him..Albert needs all the protection he can get, and two years adn 12 mil is a huge bargain for someone with as big of a bat and as versatile as Derosa.

The cards didn't ink him because they are cheap and want to keep as much $$ around if they need to do anything down the road to keep Albert or some of their pitching.

DeRosa's performance with the cards, statistically, was not that great. He was a pro on the field and in the clubhouse. Would have been nice to keep him but not a killer to let him go. I am guessing that they have a good chance to keep Holliday and a month or two ago I would not have said that. Holliday's fielding error in the playoffs exposed him a little bit, right or wrong. MLB is all about starting pitching and a strong closer. I am not convinced that Ryan Franklin will come through again.
