Big Z as a Bronx Bomber.....?

this will not happen. zambrano said he wanted to end his career after his current contract as a lifetime cubbie. i don't see him waiving his no-trade clause since he has repeatedly said that money is not what he is after.

Zambrano for Cabrera or Gardner? No way. I'll drive down to Chicago and personally beat Hendry if he makes that trade. That deal maybe makes sense if the Yankees throw in Hughes and Chamberlain.

I would have no problem with dealing Z if they could get some good value for him but not really sure I want what the Yankees have to offer. Cabrera and Gardner are not good every day OF, Joba is so inconsistent and you still don't know if he's got what it takes to be a starter or not and Hughes is kind of the same way too.

I will be ****** if the Yankees get rid of any of the 4. Gardner is a great option as a 4th outfielder, and a helluva weapon late in games off the bench on the base paths. Chamberlain and Hughes are really young and have another 10 years plus on their careers, they just need to stick them in their places and go instead of moving them all over between starting and the pen.

I really don't think Melky or Gardner are anything more than a 4th OF. You can find those types on the FA market right now basically. Hughes is in about every Yankee trade rumor for a reason and Joba is over-rated IMO so dealing a guy that is probably a #2 starter on a good team for some spare parts is a terrible idea.

Hendry is going to have to work some magic with a tight payroll this offseason because he's probably fired if the Cubs miss the playoffs again.

For the amount of money they're making, Joba and Hughes are both HUGE steals.

i really doubt that hendry would be fired. ricketts already said that he plans on developing the farm system, so we actually have good young talent on the team instead of needing to find expensive veterans every offseason. and we do have some good talent that isn't so far away from coming up. i wouldn't be surprised to see some of our current youth (theriot, baker, etc) traded away for some talent that we're lacking any depth in (relief, cf). we have a ss, 2b, c, 1b, in the minors that are only a step or two from being impactful major leaguers.

Jim Hendry is the worst GM in the history of sports. He's just dumb enough to make it happen; and pay 3/4 of his salary.

Not many GM's could turn Todd Hundley into Eric Karros and Mark Grudzilanik, and then turn around and trade Bobby Hill to the Pirates for Ramirez and Kenny Lofton. Don't forget that he also traded Hee Seop Choi to the Marlins for Derrek Lee.

He's made some bad signings, but he's made some good moves as well.

I've been saying for the last year now that they should be trading Zambrano ASAP. He's got to be the most overated player in MLB. They could completely rip someone off if they find the right team to buy into his past successes that no longer are occuring.

All you have to do is read the "ESPN" on the article, then that will tell you its only speculations and not fact.

Z wont go, but I have seen funnier things happen..
