Have I missed something, or has nobody that is sticking around DM for NYE been talking about where they are watching the game and bringing in the new year?

Can't say that I've heard of a good* place to go for the game, or ball-drop, or both.

* = not having to sell a kidney to get in, not paying $5+/bottle of BL, being able to sit at some point during the night, being able to wear normal clothes and fit in, etc. (I may be asking too much.)

I'm hoping to hang out with Tiger Woods and his "posse" for NYE! :jimlad:

For the game we are tailgating and watching over at a buddies

where is 3 bag?

3Bag is home of the hawk club in Clocktower Square in WDM.

In my opinion, 3Bag is about the worst place to watch, because they'll have tv's all over the place showing the game. Which, in and of itself, doesn't sound that bad. But, half will have the Mediacom feed, and half will have Directv. So, half the bar will be cheering or gasping, while the other half is watching the offense get up to the line. I hate places like that. Well, that, and all their hawk paraphernalia all around. If I were to go watch it in Des Moines, I would watch at Johnny's downtown. Much more Cyclone friendly in my experience...

Not too long ago I was denied entry into Third Base because I was wearing a Cubs jersey. The 1st time I had ever gone there, I was supposed to meet some friends & co-workers there to watch a Cubs game, drink, etc. The door guy (and the 3 other bouncers behind him) said it was because it was "a sports logo/gang thing." I took the jersey off as I had my lucky Walking Cy t-shirt underneath. Still denied entry because of the logo/gang thing. I asked them if they knew that this place was supposed to be a sports bar and I was asked to leave. So I took my newly aquired street cred as well as my friends & co-workers and we went to the Chicken Coop.

So I would definitely NOT recommend "3Bag" as a place to go due to their douchy staff & policies.

Let's not rip 3-Bag too harshly as they are helping support this site with their banner ad.

If I wasn't going to Tempe, I would most likely go to Johnny's Hall of Fame. It is Cyclone friendly and then it puts you in the middle of the action downtown to party post-game for NYE.

My 2nd choice would probably be Trophy's as they''ve been a big Cyclone gamewatcg hangout the past few years. That said, not really much of a party scene nearby to celebrate into the New Year.

Most bars have anti-gang policies like this or will soon. Sounds like they took it a little far in your case though.

Whould a bunch of fans going to watch a game there, wearing Cyclone gear, be considered a gang? Just wondering if I would be able to get in wearing Cyclone colors or do I go someplace else.
