Lawmakers, Satellite Companies Join Mediacom in Sinclair Dispute | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local News

Has anyone contacted their lawmaker and asked them to lobby Mediacom to add the NFL Network, so we lowly Cyclone fans can watch the Insight Bowl?

This is crap. These negotiations have been going on all year. Now, since the precious Orange Bowl maybe blacked-out to some viewers, lawmakers need to get involved?

This is about as bad as getting kicked in the nads by our own Big XII commish.

It is nice to see that Direct TV and another large cable provider is behind mediacom on this. Which likely means they will be in the same situation soon.

A comment at the bottom of the thread from a employee of sinclair claims that most network stations receive between 2-4 cents per subscriber but sinclair is asking for 12 cents per.

Network station situations =/= cable station situations.

Comparing the Sinclair dispute with the issues around the NFL Network is apples to oranges.

Fail. Comparing a local network station that everybody has had for years to the NFL Network is flawed. Comparing the Orange Bowl to the Insight Bowl is yet another flaw but really not worth mentioning.

IIRC, lawmakers with nothing else better to worry about was threating to get involved the last time as well.

correct. And last time, what happened? Mediacom's complaint was thrown out and they lost the Sinclair stations for almost a month. I don't see what is so different with the current situation. I expect that something similar would happen this time around.

Last time they didn't ask for FCC intervention till after they lost the channels. This time they asked for it in advance so they wouldn't lose the channels during negotiations. Though as far as I know the FCC has not granted their involvement in the dispute yet.
