Floyd Mattison

Looks like users are more impressed with him. Average of a 4* by 46 users.

Either way I think this kid will be one of biggest impacts from this class

Does anyone have any sort of information on how exactly they rate kids?

I'm sure bench press, 40 time, ACT score, ect, ect, ect, factor into the equation. But who is the Grand Wizzard that hands out 4 star, 3 star, 2 star, no star.

And who was the guy that said 5 yrs ago "Marlon Lucky was the #1 rated RB in the Nation". He was alright, but I'll take ARob any day over Lucky.

I'm not totally sure, but the people from rivals go to camps where these kids go to and watch them and evaluate the talent they have. Another part of the rating is based on who is recruiting the kid and who has offered him. If someone is deing recruited by florida, alabama, USC and texas and has offers from them, he will be rated highly becaues of that. This is what I remember from an article discussing these ratings.

Honestly, as much as we joke about a kid's rating being down because he's committed to ISU, sometimes it's true. For instance, I personally believe Mattison is a 4 star player, thought that before he was even ranked, thought that before he even committed to ISU, when he was still committed to Houston. I do think a players offer list and who they are committed to plays a role in how they are ranked. That said, there are many other criteria a player is ranked on, such as camps, highlight video, and senior season play.

The wizard can be found at this website: Enter the Internet!

(probably shouldn't click that link if you don't have a pop-up blocker and have an important webpage open...)

The biggest thing for me is that TCU offered him. They kind of know about defense.

TCU also offered DE Rony Nelson.

I agree, TCU is not one to laugh at.

EDIT: maybe TCU didn't actually extend an offer, but they were looking at Nelson.

I put very little stock into these star ratings. I trust PR and the staff's ability to evaluate talent. I've seen more 4 star flops at ISU than I've seen 2 star surprises. What region of the country a kid plays also has a big part in it. Look at our 2 star reciever Lenz in comparison to our 4 star Johnson.

Jeremiah George is ranked 57th on the same list.

2 of the top 90 OLB's ain't too shabby! This is shaping up to be one of the best recruiting classes in recent history. That says quite a bit about the staff, considering they've not even finished their first season!

You guys both forgot about Hubert who is rated the best of all of them at 33rd. Looks like an ace LB class. Followed closely by the OL class.

I think Hubert is also slotted to end up at DE too (because of his size and explosiveness). So the staff is even happier with the other LBs.
