I'm calling for a new Big 12 commissioner. Dan Beebe needs to be replaced because went public and showed favoritism in a job that requires neutrality.

Also the Big 12 blog for ESPN ignored our question today.

J-Dog (Kansas City, MO)

This isn’t over, Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe said Wednesday afternoon in a telephone interview with The Kansas City Star. That was the news we unfortunately woke up to this morning. I have multiple questions for you to do your best at fielding: 1) why would a conference commissioner openly and publicly side with one team over another? 2) Why is their no outrage over a 7-5 Oklahoma team being picked over an 8-4 Missouri team? 3) What can be done to make sure Beebe is no longer employed by the Big12? If this isn't a fire-able offense, then what is? 4) As it is obvious the Big12 sides against teams, how do we finally get some equality in the conference? In this day and age how do you not see the model of the Big10 and use it as a standard? What a deplorable stance for a commissioner to take.

This question went unanswered.

When will we have our respect?

Favoritism???? I would call it common sense. Mizzou beat us and have 2 more wins than us.

It's favortism from the conference toward a particular school. It has nothing to do with record. The head of the conference spoke out publicly against one school IN FAVOR of another within the conference. What don't you get about that?

^ this.

I love how there is a HUGE uproar about it. Really, Missouri deserves to go there before us, simply based on their performance vs. ours.

What don't you get about the fact that we don't deserve the bowl game over Mizzou?

That's not the arguement. Do I think Mizzou should be there over us? Yes. But it's not up to me, you or the conference. It's up to the bowl committee. The arguement is that the conference spoke out against one team over another when they are supposed to be non-bias. Whether Beebe was right or not is irrelevant. He can't go to bat for one school over another within the Big XII.

Are you sure you aren't a Hawkeye fan? It is usually them who throw common sense out the window and live in a delusional fantasy world.

I think you are still missing my point...

No I get it. You want to whine about Iowa State supposedly being discriminated against. Poor ISU....

Have we gotten shafted in the past, you bet, but this isn't one of those times.

The guy called a spade a spade and that is all. I bet you JP, PR, and everyone else who really matters could give a rip.

Ridiculous.

The whole integrity of the conference is thrown out with biased statements from the commissioner. It is bigger than just ISU getting the shaft. This particular guy isn't allowed to "call a spade a spade".

The thing is, according to the Big 12 rules as they exist (you know, the ones that exist to ensure the South teams get placed in better bowls before the North teams), the conference has no say in which bowl picks which school to represent the conference. In other words, Mizzou is possibly more deserving to be in a better bowl than OU or ATM, however, Beebe's been very quiet about that. Now that ISU might be picked over Mizzou, suddenly they need defending. Is Mizzou more deserving than ISU? As the conference rules exist right now, that's for the bowls, not the conference, to decide. Maybe Mizzou is getting the shaft. But that,a the Big 12's fault for setting up their rules in such a way to get the South schools to the best bowls possible.

Yeah, I like leaders who BS constantly...you are right. :skeptical:

"Supposedly" being discriminated against?

He's the rep for the conference, not just Mizzou. The point is valid. However, I feel like the quote may have been taken to mean more than the speaker originally intended. It could be a simple as saying "the selections aren't made, so who knows yet what the final outcome will be." The way the article was worded is a bit biased.

Since when are bowl about "who deserves to go more".

Heck, the BCS system in and of itself negates that very concept.
