I'm an Iowa basketball fan and I've had it...

with the folks over at HN talking about Iowa basketball. I'd much rather come over here and see you guys talk about how bad we are and laugh and make jokes about it. At least it's the truth. All I read over there is them think of every little thing to give us a little hope or make us sound or look better than we are.

For example, someone mentioned that Cole was mad he got called for a foul, so on the next board he grabbed it forcefully and the team noticed and got amped up and made their run to take their late 2nd half lead. Ha, are you kidding me?!!?!?

Ok genius', what happened after they took the lead? They sure fell off the face of the earth. Maybe they needed someone to slap the ball really hard when in bounding the ball.

I love Iowa basketball, and love watching it, even though they are really bad right now (even tho all of HN is in denial), but I am so sick of reading that garbage. I don't know, maybe they are seeing something I'm not. Maybe if Gatens would show up and do something, i don't know. I'm looking forward to next year and seeing what our 4 frosh can do. Can't be any worse

Okay. Thanks for sharing and getting that off your chest.:dull:

I am convinced Iowa will improve in the next couple of years. Dont give up.

Talk about an obvious statement. Is there any way they can not improve over what they're currently putting on the court? :biglaugh:

Honestly I just see them as being the way we were not long ago. Bottom of the barrel rebuild. Its hard for me to not want Lick to be successful. I never want them to beat us, but I have no problem with them becoming very good.

How about that football team!!!

Move along, nothing to see here. Bowl game in January....Move along...signing day in February...nothing to see here...Spring practice is only a few months away...

I caught glimpses of that game last night and there are some guys on that team that are serviceable and with a little more seasoning, could turn into decent ballplayers. They need an inside presence badly, and serious upgrade at PG. But these guys aren't going to be as bad as everyone thinks. I know "played hard" never shows up in the box score, but in the brief moments I've watched these guys thus far, they haven't quit, and that's more than I've seen from teams in situations like this before (read: Colorado 2 years ago).

I would like nothing more than to see EIU lose every games for the next 10 years; however, I don't think this team is that bad. I agree with this post; individually they've got some players. They just need to put it all together. Having a true fresman in Payne at point guard is hurting right now but he's got upside. I wish the Cyclones had a mean bruiser down low like Jarryd Cole. I wouldn't trade him for Brackins but every team needs someone like him at least as a role player. Obviously Gatens is also a great player. Comine all of these guys with a decent incoming recruiting class and there's hope on the horizon. I'm actually nervous about the game on the 11th. Go Cyclones!

I saw the first half of Texas and the second half of VT and honestly I don't think Iowa sucks. Outmanned? Yes. Lacking experience? Yes. Suck? I wouldn't go that far.

I'd hold off on any "Fire Lick" stuff...this year.

Agreed. Watched the whole second half last night and there is some promise there.

Their PG play is probably worse than Diante's his freshman year and they have no strong big but they play good defense and can get hot behind the arc. Both of which could be dangerous in some games.

They will surprise some people and we will not walk all over them in Hilton next weekend.

I for one am just hoping for a win against them. They DO play hard and I just want next week to be over, because I don't want it to be our ultimate charlie brown moment.

This would be worse than boise or hampton in my mind. Talk about a loss that would never die.

And I've seen them get hot enough from behind the arc to be able to be better than NW.

We all saw how that turned out.

Only point of disagreement..

is on the defense comment. Iowas is not good defensively. 244th in the country in defensive efficiency according to Pomwery. Teams shooting 39% from 3-point, nearly 50% on 2's, and Iowa forces very few turnovers. Not a good combnation.

Not sure Iowa can be better than Northwestern on a good day this year. Northwestern is actually good. Wins over you guys, Notre Dame and on the road last night at NC State. Only loss to Butler, and NW is without its leading returning rebounder and scorer.

ISU would have to flat-out miss tons of open shots to lose to Iowa this year. Staiger could easily make 8 or more 3's in this game.
