Tuberville sides with Rhoads over Chizik

Cool read. Let's put Tommy on the staff...director of recruiting or something!

Alot of nice comments by quite a few successful coaches in that article (Tuberville, Majors, Wannstedt)

Interesting article where Tuberville takes a shot at Chizik and pledges his support for Rhoads.

I really think GC left the program in better shape than when he arrived --- look at all his recruits that are major contributors on the field. Never-the-less I'm still glad he's gone and that CPR is here. I do love how "the good 'ol boys" still take every shot they can at him........they don't like people who leave on their own to go to a "name" program.

We have a winner, just think if the two Kansas games would have rolled our way...

Uhhh--all of these guys leave on their own to go to a "name" program. It's how the game has been played for a long time.

Your obsession with Chizik continues!

Name the recruits that are major contributors:

Leonard
Banks
Lyle
KO
Haughton
Darks
Benton

Look at the others
Arnaud
ARob
Catlett
Hamilton
Lamaak
Stephens
Frere
Neal
Parker
Smith
Smith
Sims
Raven
Garrin

He did a good job recruiting but it doesn't appear to be great yet

Dont forget about 2/3 of the starters are Dan McCarneys guys. The cupboard was bare when he left, but he did some nice "do not open until 2009" presents.:biglaugh:

Tends to happen when you say you're "firmly entrenched" in Ames and then are moving to Alabama a few short weeks later.

The group of players as a whole got better under GC. But the coaching improvement we have seen with CPR has been very large. There is no doubt in my mind that if CPR was hired back in 07 instead of GC he would of achieved better records in those seasons.

Don't be an idiot......we don't hate Chizik b/c he went to an 'name' program. We dislike him because he drove this program into the dirt for 2 years. I really thought I saw progress in Year 1 under the the Cheese. Last year was a COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER. We played with the discipline of 1st graders. We didn't manage the games well at all. We looked completely and totally inept.

I don't hate Chizik as much as a lot of people do. But we are playing with probably an equal number of McCarney guys as Chizik guys.

Also, as time goes by I get more and more angry that Chizik decided to treat the Iowa State job as a reason to bring back the gang from college as his staff. There is no excuse to hire a bunch of unqualified friends as assistants when you are a Big 12 coach. The contrast in that simple thing between years is crazy.

One thing that does get lost is that I believe Robinson left the program under McCarney and came back under Chizik.

I am sure that Tuberville is genuine when saying that he is rooting for Coach Rhoads to be successful...I am also sure that Tuberville is aware of who it is he is speaking with. Tuberville is a 1st class guy and would not say anything negative to a reporter about another coach (meaning pumping up CPR over GC).

That said...his comments ring true! He has done his homework...

That's one of the best Rag articles I've ever seen. Not just because its complimentary to ISU, but they really did their homework. Talking to or digging up quotes from Wannstedt, Tuberville, and Majors. Wow.

Has it ever been clarified how much (if anything) we are still paying his two demotee coordinators that he signed to contracts just before leaving?

Nice article and some nice comments. You really can't deny the results that Rhoads has had in his first year at ISU...it has been very impressive.

But, you clearly don't know much about Tuberville if you think he is a first class guy.
