Vandenberg is good.

Agreed - To do what he did as a freshman is outstanding. Stanzi must have in the back of his mind that he needs to get healthy ASAP. I think there will be a tough battle for QB. Coach KF typically goes with the experience which gives the edge to Stanzi. Vandenberg is now 0-1 or 0-2 depending on how you figure the first game. If it's me I'm going with Vandenberg

he did a good job, but let's not forget that he threw 2 INT on the last Iowa scoring drive and was bailed out by an offsides and a weird bounce.

He seems to throw a very nice ball and really has some zip on his throws.

If he gets better in the mental aspect, he's going to be a stud QB - as much as that pains me to say.

You guys are forgetting that Ricky Stanzi is the Christ Child. He won all of Iowa's 9 victories himself. It had nothing to do with great defense and random luck. Vandenberg couldn't have put Iowa into a winning position today. Wait, maybe Iowa can win w/out good QB play. Can't be.

I know right, because why in the world would you want an in-state kid to be successful? Oh wait, he goes to Iowa. My bad.

Maybe it pains him to say it because his team will play the guy a few times and it's obvious he can be a good player who will likely be a thorn in his team's side? It has nothing to do w/hating Hawkeyes as much as you really, really want it to.

<p>He made a lot of tough throws today. He also had Stross drop 3 one of which a sure TD in the first quarter when they ended up with a FG instead. Who knows, things may have gone differently had they scored 7 instead of three on that drive. It was a good game and I'm glad that both teams in this state are bowl eligible. Now for ISU to win @ Mizzou next week and we are a lock

This is all just setting up the ol' "best player in the country is the back up qb at EIU". Man it seems like for ever since we had that going on....oh, wait it was just last year with Stanzi and Jake C.

Nope...proud of the teams effort today, although part of me wished that they would have just lost 24-10. At that point, I thought the game was over. Say what you want, but they never quit.

It's too bad Ricky Stanzi wasn't straight up willing them to victory. I swear I saw him trying to do Jedi mind tricks on the sidelines in OT. I think he levitated a Gatorade cup. If Ricky Stanzi wills it, it is done.

You should be proud of the team. I would have had them losing by 3 touchdowns. Vanderburg played well in his first start in a hostile environment.

What the hell are you so sore about? Iowa lost, you should be happy.

I was almost rooting for the Hawks for two reasons. 1) I hate Ohio State. Straight up hate. 2) I have some good friends who are Iowa fans who traveled all the way to Columbus, and I like seeing my friends happy.

In a vacuum I would cheer for Iowa when they didn't play ISU, but d-bag Hawk fans who have to stick their noses into all things Cyclone make it impossible not to giggle when Iowa loses. I'm not sore at all.

Didn't get to see all of the game but Vandenberg has a gun, and a lightning quick release. Way more tools than Stanzi... Definately not looking forward to facing him over the next few years...
