My Take on Barnes

- Personally, I am mentally prepared that he will select UNC or Duke.

- I will be super excited if he selects ISU.

- I will be super ****** off if he goes to KU.

- I will be super confused if he selects OU or UCLA.

I put our odds more at 25%, between UNC, Duke, KU and ISU.

This.

Here's my take, since i know everyone is super-interested in it :jimlad:

5. Throw Duke out - wants a business undergrad school, this is more of a business grad school. Plus, elite private school doesn't seem to be HB, as indicated by his commitment to stay in Ames his senior year.

Was there a chance he would be elsewhere?

There were plenty of rumors swirling (thanks again, Marty) that HB would go the prep route his senior year to better prepare himself for future competition. For whatever reason (false rumor and never considered it, loyalty to school, love of Ames) he didn't.

Neither does Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, or most elite Universities. That doesn't mean that they don't prepare you better for the world of business than UNC would.

True, but most of these are Graduate school destinations for business. I'm just sayin' that business, as a degree, is a post-graduate emphasis at Duke (and Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Penn, among others). The elite institutions are looking for undergraduate work in economics, accounting, engineering, and two years of business experience. They don't have undergrad business schools. This doesn't mean that Duke can't prepare a student for business, just that they, like other elite schools, are encouraging multi-discipline studies at the undergrad level. One of the ways they do this is to only offer business degrees at the Masters level.

I know and have worked with several Stanford, Harvard, and Penn business school grads. All were post-grad masters.

Any Clone that doesn't put him at a 100% chance to us is probably a squak with a clone user name.

Or someone with a little common sense.

Why is it that anyone who isn't an irrational and maniacal supporter of ISU gets labeled on this board as a hawk fan?

Very interested in tomorrow. I think my emotions are about as all over the map as they can be. I think I can now say I know what women are like (from a a daily emotional level perspective).
The info I have heard so far:
Chris-Duke bringing in Smith
Marty-It's Duke. Then Tuesday, it is not Duke. It is Midwest, per a "reliable" source.
ESPNews Insider (yesterday roughly 1 PM)-Duke or UNC
A person I normally trust: Duke or ISU

I am hoping my confidence is not killed. That said, IF he signs elsewhere, no way can we be upset with him.
Do I believe in the long run ISU would have his best interests at heart. Yes.
Would other schools? Tough to honestly say.
Hoping he puts on that ISU hat. Then I can give my full attention to Colorado.

I think ISU has the best shot. I really think my Jayhawks are out. Any other town except Ames and I think Self has a real shot, but he's really working behind the 8-ball here. Logically it would make sense for him to go to ISU where his mom can walk from work and see every home game. He's only going to play for a year, so he might as well make it as easy as he can on his family.

What do you think all the kids from those elite schools majored in before they went to Wall Street and before they go back to business school? Probably economics.

we'll see how irrational and maniacal i am come tomorrow.........

It has nothing to do with tomorrow.

Anyone who says that Barnes coming to ISU is a 100% chance is an idiot, because nobody knows for sure except Barnes and his mom.

It doesn't affect your status as a cyclone to be realistic and realize there is a chance he goes somewhere else.

You are basically just laying the foundation to throw a tantrum tomorrow when he declares for someone else, and it is irrational.

That also means that if the rumor that kg-cyclone posted about Brackins being 50/50 about returning for his senior year is true, that this might be motivation for HB coming to ISU.

I missed this thread...where did KG talk about Brackins Senior year still being up in the air!? I don't see any thread titles that allude to it.
