friday could potentially go down as one of the most exciting days in recent history for ISU MBB. I think it could be a celebration similar to the welcome back we gave the football team the night of the Nebraska game, but possibly bigger? or it could also be a pretty miserable day?? either way I want to be there, to see the place go nuts if he picks the good guys. what is everyone elses take on this? are you going? is it wierd for a 40 year old man who's just a fan to walk into a HS gym cause he wants to be there for an announcement like this (i'm not 40 but just saying). thoughts?

YES.

Eh, I don't think it will be weird. BTW 20 and planning on attending. How many times can you look back and say I saw this NBA player announce his college plans live. Don't think it will happen to many more times in my lifetime.

I live in Central Illinois, teach high school and have most of my students interested in the HB decision.

But for what it is worth most also seem interested in how a school with a red bird for a mascot has a nickname for and Eastern hemisphere hurricane which ravages the South Asian subcontinent. Stupid Chicago sports writers.

exactly what i said in another thread. he has spent too much time with these guys to announce he's going to duke or wherever right before our season opener. more so than the open to public thing, the timing is the important thing to me.

This is an interesting point. It would be pretty crappy of him to announce he's going to a different school four hours before our season opener.

My question is if you're going, and he chooses somebody other than ISU, would do you do? What DO you do? Do you stand there and gasp? Do you boo? Do you cheer, with a tear running down your cheek? What DO you do?

I am going to go. I will probably just quietly leave. My only dog in the fight is ISU.

I think it depends who he picks. Either way I am not about to publicly boo a 17 year old kid no matter which way he chooses. I think I would stick around and listen to what he has to say if he picks UNC or duke, because I don't think I could hold it against him. If he picks KU or OU, then I'll probably walk right out, get in thje car, and then scream at the steering wheel the whole way home.

But when he picks the clones, I'll probably jump up and down screaming like a little girl for a few minutes, before collecting myself and then moving seats because I have lost all respect from those sitting around me.

Clap politely, beat the crowd to the food, grab as much as you can, then leave.

Sit there quietly until 4 minutes to 3:00, then quickly run up to the "concourse" level to stand and watch the actual ceremony. Make sure to leave right as the pen hits the paper, because hey -- there'll be traffic to beat, and you can't be bothered with knowing how it actually ended.

Reactions: dpo4isu
If things go bad I’m running up to the balcony and pulling the goodies/ refreshments table over the railing with me onto the court. That will truly be the only way to lift the ISU curse, don’t test me I will do it.

I'm not even going to watch it or listen to it. I just can't can't imagine the reaction if he chooses against ISU. My buddy and I were talking about this today, what I would love to see if he chooses another school is all of the ISU fans in attendance just silently get up as he's still talking and walk out. Not a huge disruption but just enough to show that he's dead to me now.
