ISU vs Pembroke Game Thread

DG was the guy I was most impressed with - that guy worked his butt off this past year on his shot

I am getting a feeling about this year...we are going to do much better than expected. I think.

For people saying "Oh, it's a division 2 team" maybe you should look at the scores of other teams playing D2 teams. Kansas played D2 team Fort Hays State and won 107-68. We scored about as much as kansas, except held our team to what..14 less points than Kansas did?

Kentucky beat NAIA team Campbellsville U, 74-38

It's all relative. If you've been watching ISU the last, I don't know, at least six to seven years you'll know we NEVER beat exhibition teams this badly.

The key component for me is the last couple years ISU has either struggled or only beat these types of teams by 10-20 points. We could have beat these teams by 70 if we wanted to. There is something to that. I am not saying B12 championship, but I will say that we may finally have a team that is not facing Turnover, to much Youth and the Practice facility may give these guys a since of closeness that we need.
Just sayin..

This is how we should beat teams of this caliber. However, there have been years, and not that long ago, where we didn't.

Anyone else remember losing to (I think) the EA Sports All Stars? It's good to see 50+ pt exhibition wins again. It's been a while.

You would be surprised how many teams across the league don't beat teams of this caliber by a score like this.

Point is, our games are about on track with that of other top 25 teams. However, these teams could be the bottom of their leagues and the teams the top 25 teams played at the top. Who knows.

But comparing these games from the last few years' exhibition games? So much better it's not even funny.

I brought up, "when was the last time you remember us being up by 40?" and my friends said, "dude they are horrible." I said, "we lost to EA Sports a couple of years ago."

Onward and Upward!

At least there was an "excuse" since EA Sports All Stars were all graduated college players, mostly from D1 :D

Just to give you guys an idea
Last year we won and Ex. by 20 points.

2008 we beat one of the worst D3 schools ever by 28 and EA Sports by 11.

2007 we beat EA by 1 and Wayne State by 14

I guess my point is that we kept these games close and we sucked.

On the other hand....Michigan State lost one of there pre season games last year and went to the NT game.

Good post. Although I want this team to be awesome. More importantly I want to get back to traditional ISU MBB. Where the energy is high, we compete against everybody, and we're hopeful of post-season play. This year shows that we might be getting back to that type of MBB. We don't need super stars either to get there, but we need a roster of 7-10 very good players that work as a team. The depth we have gives me hope, versus relying on one player every game.

Good feelings.
