Point Guards

Which leads me to a question i wanted to ask the insiders, which is what will Buckley's position be in the playing time pecking order?

There were a lot of people speculating this summer that he would be our starting PG this fall, but as of late, it seems conventional wisdom says DG / Colvin / Buckley. Is it likely that we'll see a starting backcourt of Buckley/DG?

I think it will be fun to watch Bubu as well. The guy screams fan favorite walkon.

If it were my decision I would start Buckley...and move DG off the ball.

Sounds like DG is the starting point guard, but Buckley should get a significant about of time. Early, Colvin will probably get spot minutes.

Hasnt McDermott said that Diante will be playing off the ball more. Even Diante said that he will be dong more of that. The question I wuld like to konw is when will this situation come up?

Probably depends on the opponent and who is playing well...Have to remember, by moving DG off the ball, basically put Lucca and Christopherson on the bench with Gilstrap at the 3. By doing that, we lose our shooters...

Probably going to see some interesting combinations early, while the staff figures out what is working the best.

I was thinking thats what would happen, however, i'm sure whenever Gilstrap needs a rest, this combination will also occur.

What a good problem for us to have right now.

IMO, when Gilstrap needs a rest...Put in Vanderbeken or Lucca at the 3...Might open up the lane for DG at the 2. Also, have Booze, who has started off pretty well from what I saw of practice.

Who knows until you get them out there and try some things...

Vanderbeken a 3 does not sound like a good match up, at either end. He is not going to take advantage of size at the offensive end by posting up, likely would really struggle at the defensive end trying to chase someone around. I think that Lucca is best bet at giving minutes at the 3, maybe Dendy or Christopherson.

Was talking offensively...a lot depends on who the opponent is. Probably have Dendy or Brackins guard the other teams 3 if Vanderbeken is in the game at our 3 spot.

It seems like this team can go a lot of different ways.

I expect the starters to be:
PG: Garrett
SG: Lucca (or Scott)
SF: Gilstrap
PF: Brackins
C: Hamilton

I guess I expect the DG at 2 minutes to come during the run of play, I think we can change it up during the game and put a really athletic fast-break team on the floor with
Colvin/DG/Gilstrap/Dendy/Brackins.

I think that team could run on just about anyone.

We can also put a really good inside/outside team on the floor with a PG (none are great shooters) and Scott & Lucca at the 2 & 3 and Brackins and Hamilton inside providing the muscle.

Has Brackins improved defensively? Wasn't real strong either of his first two years.

Also, how does Oliver look? I know he was said to be extremely athletic, just curious how that has played out in practice.

Sick when I was there...
