Rhoads said following the Baylor game that this team is one of the most resilient teams that he has ever been around.
As a guy that goes to a&m, I don't know what to expect from this game. We have a really young team that seems bipolar in that you never know what type of mood or game is going to be played. Against arkansas we jumped out to a 10-0 lead and one of our best receivers dropped a wide open touchdown pass and the momentum shifted into a blowout loss. We completely blew the oklahoma state game in which we dominated the entire game but had defensive lapses in the 4th quarter to lose. The kansas state loss was a complete embarrassment, but then we turn around and blow out a good tech team in lubbock. Going into this week, I have no idea what to expect, but I feel that in order for iowa state to win the game they must win in a shootout. Offensively, a&m has one of the top ranked in the country, but our defense is not very good if we can't get pressure on the quarterback. Also, for a&m to win, they must keep a balanced offensive attack because at times we throw the ball way too much and the defense is allowed to send guys after the quarterback. A&m's best receiver from last season, sophomore Jeff fuller returned to action late in the game last night after missing 4 weeks of action with a cracked bone in his leg.
My keys to the game are:
- how well iowa state blocks a&m's von miller, who leads the ncaa in sacks
- whether iowa state can get the running game going early
- can a&m defend the screen pass
- can a&m continue its balanced offensive attack
Let down? You have to be kidding. We are just getting started on our historic run for the Big XII Championship. 11-2.
Humming "The Belles of Iowa State" all day.
