We are two plays from 5-1...

Not true. People seem to be forgetting that we would have gone to overtime vs. KSU had that extra kick not been blocked. Given our recent history in overtime games, a win was far from guaranteed there.

I think you could argue KSU's last TD pass could've easily been broken up (the DB was there) or if the DB had just not gone for the ball and tackled him immediately, our D had a good chance to hold them to a field goal.

But there were more plays after that and a lot could have happened. The implication of the OP is that if the extra point hadn't been blocked we would have won. We cannot prove that.

Not as close as two plays from 5-1, although they are the two plays that stick out the most to us as being closer to 5-1. Remember, we still had to beat KSU in OT in order to win that game (not a guaranteed win), and even had we scored the desperation TD against KU with a minute left and converted a 2-point play after, we would still have given KU a minute left to try to march down the field and kick a field goal or score a TD. With the way their passing game was clicking against us, I think a minute (even without timeouts) might have been enough to give them a shot.

So, no, not two plays from 5-1. But two REALLY close games from being 5-1... Oh the possibilities.

If we had held them to a FG or nothing that would have changed our playcalling and we don't know if we would have scored. Remember that it took a big time 4th down conversion to get us to the point of scoring that TD. If we weren't down 7 we would have punted and probably gone to overtime anyway.

And even if we complete the pass against Kansas, there would have been enough time left for them to score again. We are getting closer though.

The list of teams with the ifs and buts argument right now is longer than my arm.

I'm happy with the direction of the program even though the last 2 games have been a beotch.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a locomotive bearing down on me.

All excellent points. I don't deny that we are very close to being 5-1 instead of 3-3, but it's more than two plays.

not true, the kick against KSU was for OT. Better to say we are a healthy A-Rob from being 5-1.

I think that we are a healty A-Rob away from being 4-2. A-Rob had a pretty good game as he was but we're a 6'-2" CB away from being 5-1. Meier just destroyed us yesterday.

Are we seriously going to keep blaming Arnaud for overthrowing the last play of the game considering the amount of pressure he was under? We left 5 points on the field yesterday - if Mahoney makes his two extra points and the field goal snap isn't botched, we might be looking at least at a tie. Instead, Arnaud was put in a situation where he had to make a play - and unfortunately the line didn't give him the time he needed and he overthrew the ball.

Quite honestly, over the last two weeks I'd place the onus of the blame of losing on special teams before I started saying, "well, if Arnaud only completed that pass"...
