Now how is Auburn doing?

I think the biggest problem ISU fans have with him is that he hired his buddies, who weren't qualified, as coordinators. It appears he has learned from that mistake.

Has anyone watched the Auburn games? I was just wondering if they've been having a ridiculous amount of personal fouls and delay of games like we had while he was here or if he's cleaned that up too.

Oh and I didn't realize Auburn is an in-state rival.

It's early. Let's see what he does against real SEC teams.

So far--talent is much better. Coordinators actually are qualified. Hasn't had time to screw things up.

Who said he was bad? If we didn't like his work, we wouldn't have offered him a 2-year contract extension.

Ok Monty...you are one of the biggest Pollard haters that there is out there...yet you are backing his extension for Chiz? You are bassackwards

I never said I was backing it. I was just pointing out that Chizik was rewarded for a 10 game losing streak with a 2 year contract extension, so evidently someone thought he was doing a good job.

Maybe Cheese-wiz wasn't quite as bad as some ISU fans seemed to think?

That is an entirely different situation:
- Auburn is a more established program
- Auburn's talent level is well above what ISU had when GC got here
- Auburn had 9 wins only 2 years ago
- He hired qualified assistants (see post above)

I am guessing that GC will experience some success at Auburn as he is a better fit there; what ISU needs to be successful is different that what he was doing while he was here. I seriously doubt, however, that he will get AU back to the national prominance that they have experienced only a few years back.

Are there any other troll comments you have?

Is the Royals GM the Iowa State AD? He basically did the same thing with ******* Trey Hillman. Hell he even said Hillman was doing a good job this year. I can't wait for Royals baseball next year led by those idiots....

Not attempting to be too much of a troll. I simply think that many ISU fans had foolishly dumped on the Chiz a bit too much and without adequate justification. I think that the holier-than-thou crowd here sometimes needs to get "called out" a little bit regarding some of the crud they fling. I always thought that it was pretty transparent that he was using ISU as a stepping stone for his career and there's absolutely no shock that he'd bolt to Auburn ... it's one of his dream jobs after all.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame ISU fans for not liking the Chiz ... however, many ISU fans are fairly misguided if they really believe that he was necessarily a bad coach.

I would say that he was a pretty bad gameday coach. I could give you several games where gameplanning and playcalling cost us a win.

There is no doubt the guy can recruit...you won't see any ISU fans arguing that. Better players, more talent, and hiring GOOD coordinators will help him at Auburn. He didn't have any of that in Ames.

Sure, but how many first time head-coaches are great gameday coaches right from the get-go? ... especially for coaches having to deal with the sort of depth issues that teams like Iowa and ISU tend to have?

Chizik lost my support when he walked off the field in Boulder last season with a big poop eating grin on his face.

He used ISU like bathroom tissue. Get over it.

He had probably just stepped away from the huddle during the final timeout to answer his cell phone, and it was his agent telling him that the Auburn job was open.
