I would say that poll would be unfair becasue the kids are learning the system.... but I would also say that throwing bad balls and picks that AA throw was not a system problem but more of an ablilty to execute amd make good decisions

Exactly. Everyone loved that Chizik was a ladderclimber when he came here - and then tried to blame it on JP when that came back to bite us in the butt.

I hope that AA gets his confidence back. Was a bad day and he wanted to win on every throw and tried to do to much. I wanted this win more than any other and am as fustrated as anyone here.

From watching practice, Arnaud is far ahead of Tiller when it comes to throwing the ball. I think you could make a case that Beuker throws a better ball than Tiller. Tiller is not the godsend some make him out to be. He is very athletic and shifty with the ball, but his throwing needs to improve greatly.

I dont care who throws the ball the best it depends who the coach thinks can win. The ball needs to get to our recievers. I hate losing to Iowa as much as anyone. WE need to get over this one and win a road game. Lets see what Coach and Coordinators can do. Go Cyclones

He has NO idea how to stay at any school for any period of time, and part of me wonders if he has John Calipari syndrome. President Geoffrey should also be blamed. I mean, he picked Pollard. The Board of Regents did a really ****-poor job of picking Geoffrey. Who elects the BoR? The Governor?

Most of his (Pollard's) choices have affected the athletics department in positive ways. People pick and choose men's basketball and football because they are the revenue generators, but across the board, our athletics department is now stronger than it was.

You're right, it has. We've set records in number of season tickets sold, and are in as good as (or better) financial situation than we've ever been.

FYI, Kelly was at Grand Valley State for 17 years - the last 13 as HC. He then went to Central Michigan for three years, and has been at Cincinnati for three. He rejected offers from BCS schools to stay at Cincy after last year.

tough loss. hard to watch, as much as i wanted to beat Iowa, i'll gladly take wins at army and kent state going 3-1 rather then beating iowa and lose those two games.

You know, I just find this whole "blame everything on JP" thing absolutely hilarious. Pollard from day one has given the fans pretty much what they want, but yet when things go wrong it's all his fault. 80%+ of the fans wanted McCarney fired as the 2006 season progressed (including Monty), which JP eventually has no choice but to concede to. He then listen to the fans' demands of bringing in a big name coach who will impact recruiting by his name alone, and fans claim that they're okay with that name coach using ISU as a stepping stone because the team should be improved enough by the time he leaves to hire another good coach. No one could have expected a traditional power school would come and hire Chizik from us after posting the worst record in ISU coaching history. So then the fans start whining about how they want to bring in a coach that isn't going to leave us at a lurch because we got burned by that last time, so he brings in Rhoads. But now lots of fans are complaining because it appears that we're not going to get to the magical 6-win window this year

Fans keep whining that we've been rebuilding ever since JP came in and destroyed the football program. Bull ****. This football team has been perpetually rebuilding since the 2002 collapse. The only reason why we "won" divisional titles in 2004 and 2005 is because the Big 12 North might have been the weakest division in college football those years. If those two McCarney-led teams were going up agaisnt the division from the last two years, it's quite likely the 2004 and 2005 teams would be just as bad as the 2007 and 2008 teams have been. No, this team has not been rebuilding since JP fired McCarney, this program has been rebuilding since 2002, back when BVDv, the scourge of the ISU athletic department, was running things. At this point I almost wish 2004 and 2005 didn't happen, because then ISU fans wouldn't be nearly as deluded as they are that things were "oh so rosy" before JP came in and destroyed thngs...

Anyone else not impressed with the offensive play calling? Why keep throwing deep when the LB's and safeties drop back 800 yards? We were running the ball well, but not enough. Why not drag more receivers across the middle and use our TE's?

I think it's neat that a blind person comes to games - away games at that. That's impressive. If you had your eyesight, you would be able to see that Sims, Leonard Johnson, Alexander Robinson, Reggie Stephens, probably Mahoney and Brantner as well would all start at Iowa.

Let's see, Darks and Sed Johnson are injured. That leaves Keleche Osemele, Scott Haughton, Collin Franklin, Chris Lyle and Leonard Johnson as some few names that I could toss out there. The difference between them and the guys you mentioned are that those guys complement an already existing structure, and ours are the ones the framework is being built around.

However, I've always noted that subtleties are beyond some people....

Pure nonsense. Our framework is not our freshmen. It's our upperclassmen like Rashawn Parker, Austen Arnaud, Reggie Stephens, Jesse Smith, Marquis Hamilton, Derrick Catlett, Mike Brandtner, etc. Those are our leaders. Our freshmen and sophomores complement them, just like Iowa's, and all other team's, do.

Of course, he knew the risks. But who would have believed that the ladder climber would climb before the rebuilding job was done--or even well on it's way? Seriously. I'm quite certain that everyone figured the last coach wouldf be gone after a turnaround...

I just took a look at the play-by-play stats and was amazed by the running game in the first half. Robinson was tearing up the field (figuartively and it sounds like literally as well)....9,2,7,3,5,7,2,17,5,5. Iowa apparently had no answer for him. It looks like the coaching staff tried to force the passing game when the running game was gaining good yardage almost every play.

It seems that there was a failure to adjust the game plan. Did any coaches talk about this in their post game comments?

Well, let's see. The program was in the tank with the cupboard pretty much bare when JP hired the guy generally regarded as the best assistant in the country by his peers and the head coaches around the country. Maybe Jamie should start using a polygraph in the interviewing process. Then he hired coach Rhoads. Another highly respected guy with a great resume, but strong ties to Ames and central Iowa. Those are both decisions probably most of us would make, unless of course we were making them in hindsight. The decision to let McCarney go can be debated. But the program was not in good shape when he left. It was not unreasonable to make that move given the condition of the program at the time. And, the guy hired by Pollard had impeccable credentials. What do you think would have been a better course of action for Jamie over the last 3 years? What would you have done to give us more consistency? (Remember KF's first 4 years when he lost to us in consecutive games? Now there's consistency for you.)
