I'm thinking Bama over Va Tech. Solid win.

Boise State..eh..it's up there but it was a home game.

BYU lucked out and didn't have to play against Bradford.

Bama gets my vote, most impressive win Week 1.

I'd vote Oklahoma St. Georgia's QB situation is still kind of in question, but the rest of their team is solid.

BYU in my book - they battled to at least a draw in the trenches - if not winning it.
How many players on BYU would Stoops have even offered a schollie to? My guess is not a one...

That's the game I forgot to post.

It was between Okie St/UG and Bama/Va Tech... pretty much a toss up but I'd go Bama for winning road.

Plus the call vs. Georgia when their safety got called for a personal foul when he made the most beautiful play on the ball and punished the receiver. That call ****** me off even though I was for Oklahoma St.

The biggest win for a team had to be BYU over Oklahoma. If BYU goes undefeated. IF. Then that win would really help their chances of being put in the title game.

When looking at the conference level, the Okie St. game was HUGE for the Big XII.

That game was in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Not a road game.

I'd say Notre Dame, 35 in a half is pretty good... it's more surprising to me... I thought holtz was blowing it out of his you know what when he said they were back in form... ok i still think he was blowing it out....

I also thought Florida's win was pretty impressive... :jimlad:
But seriously, winning by 59 and still not covering the spread?!?! :biglaugh:

IKE!! I didn't believe you til I looked at the boxscore. I watched half that game too. Must of blended it with several other games to get to the this point where I still swear UG was on the road.

And I wonder why human polls may not be the greatest?? people like me!!! who blend games together.

I just got done watching the last 3 quarters of the Ole Miss/ Memphis game. Watched 3 quarters and still took me a minute to remember it was indeed at Memphis. should know it off the top of my head, one would think.

UG was on the road.

UG was at OSU.

Bama/VT was at the Georgia Dome.

Most important win was Boise since they don't have another quality team on their schedule. Most impressive win I would have to say would be BYU winning in Big 12 country, I know Bradford got injured but Bama played 188 miles from home in SEC country vs a Va Tech team that really has no offense. Best showing in a loss I would give it to Washington

No love for Mizzou? With all of their changes from last year and go in and clobber a Illinois team that was expected to be pretty good.

Agree. MU lost a ton and absolutely took Illinois apart. Plus, Illinois was supposed to have a good offense at least, and MU held them to only 9 points.

Alabama had a good win also.

William and Mary beat Virginia. Ouch.

Most impressive win for me was BYU. They would have won that game with or without Bradford. They were way more physical than OU all night.

After that, I would have to say Missouri over Illinois. I don't know how good Illinois is this year, but everyone expected Missouri to be rebuilding. Gabbert looks to be no drop off at all from Chase Daniels. Their D is a little suspect, but who's isn't in the Big XII?

After what I saw yesterday, I think Missouri is my pick for the Big XII north.

After that, I'd say Michigan actually looked pretty decent, which is leaps and bounds better than they were last year.

Exactly. It's not as if Bradford was burning the BYU defense play after play when he was in the game. The excuses to discredit the huge win by BYU, thus we don't have to truly respect them come the time it's time to select teams for the BCS, have already started. All the Mountain West Conference (and Boise St) have done over the last 5 years is prove that they can play with just about any team from just about any conference across the country.

I honestly can't wait until 2014 and the excuses that are made to continue shutting out the MWC when it's time to review BCS conference eligibility...

This thread might have been a bit premature given the Miami win in Tallahassee last night. Probably still not on the level of BYU over OU, but no one beats Bobby at home on opening day.
