The last thread was actually my first post on CF and took off like crazy and I made reference to it today and decided making a poll was worth it. I made a list of all the suggestions and there were over 50. The web site only allows 25 poll choices so almost certainly some people's favorites will be off the list. Tried to stick with the most suggested and ones that I knew were still open but I will assure you I could (and probably did) mess it up.

wallaby's. easy choice for the simple reason that everything there is good. some places have better wings or something but wallaby's has the best fries, chicken tenders, and cheese curds IMO

Where is WestCyde's? Best damn place in town.

My Bad...I shoulda read your disclaimer before posting. Still think Westcyde's is the best.

Asian Food Ranking in Ames...
1) Fuji
2) House of Chen
3) Chinese Homestyle Cooking
4) Little Taipai
5) Mandarin

Cocost and Golden Wok are horrible

Little Taipei #4? Blaspheme. Regardless of what you think about the food, anyplace that sets their price at $2.99 for about 17 years and features an angry sounding man shouting numbers ("33!!!, 33!!!") demanding that you pick up your food should be an undisputed #1.

BTW, what does Little Taipei charge these days?

Chinese Home Cooking- If you go once somehow they always remember you. Graduated and came back 2 years later. It was like I never left. Many have told me that same type of story. Best chinese I have ever had. Of course we called it "CHC"

That is absolutely true. Some of the best service and friendliest people I have met. I used to go there quite a bit and they talked to me like I was their best friend. Not to mention great food and awesome Crab Rangoon

I went with the following:

The Cafe - Everything there is always delicious. My number one choice for higher class dining. Anyone who voted for Aunt Maudes over The Cafe is delusional.

Great Plains - Best pizza. I would also give an honorable mention to Jeff's. I've also only been to Black Market once, but it was tasty and unique.

West Street Deli - Best sandwiches.

Gyro Cart - Best drunk food.

Hickory Park - I think its a bit overrated in general, but they make excellent shakes & malts and the food is alright and fairly priced.

anybody tried Le's Vietnamese? ive heard it is good but never been there.

excellent food at Le's. Try their cream cheese wontons. They are fantastic.

I can't believe that Cafe Shi gets so few votes. That place is easily one of the top restaurants in town. Incredible menu selection, great taste, and superb service. They are a little spendier than a lot of the other places in the poll, more in line with an Aunt Maudes, or the Spice, but it's a great place to take someone on a date. Show them you've got some class.

I love asian food. Little Taipai is very good, but Fuji, HOC, and CHC are just better for what I get. Little Taipai has a lady screaming 'order ready' now at the top of her lungs. I'm sure its to the same effect. Gotta love it.
