Anyone have an idea what it should cost to hang drywall & concrete backerboard in a bathroom? Drywall would be about 120 square feet and the backerboard about 120 square feet for the shower area and the floor.

greenboard is like $7 for a 4x8 sheet at Menards ... so that's like $30.
it's not gonna be the cost ... it will be the month it takes you to tape mud and sand.

Yes to hire it out.
Hanging wouldn't be my problem...making it look nice and smooth afterward would be with the tape mud and sanding. Especially since it will have to blend with the plaster ceiling.

I am not sure what the small job rate runs, to do a whole house it runs about 55 cents a square foot of rock.
My guess is for something that small you are going to be looking at $150 - 200 just because set-up time and what not.
An area that small is not that hard to do yourself - just take your time...

Yeah, I am guessing $150 is maybe not ever the low end...depends on number of corners, seems that need done and such and if you're having someone professional or a moonlighter doing it.
