I wish he would just bat RH full time. Which is funny because we got him to be our LH power hitter. But if you look, MB is hitting only .200 with an OPS of .688 while as a RH batter he is hitting .343 with an OPS of .883. Its just strange.

If he listens and uses what Lou is teaching him, I expect a turn around so I am not too worried about him. Maybe its because I have already given up on him. Just a terrible year from an average player that doesn't deserve the contract he got.

I don't consider him an average hitter. He has had some great years at the plate.

You can't honestly say that. Its only been one half of the first year for his 3 year contract. How do you know he isn't going to tear it up the rest of his contract? You don't.

The problem is when people expect him to be something he's not. He's not a 30+ home run guy so if you expect him to be a power hitter, you're expecting too much. He's a 20-25 HR .300-.330 hitter who plays average defense when healthy.

He's far from being the most overpaid player on this team, that's for sure. And the contract isn't long enough to hurt the organizations future.

Oops, sorry. I misread the initial post. I thought a 4th year became guaranteed because of his number of games played.

Honestly I really didn't expect him to come over and hit lights out in the first half of the year. I thought he may hit 270 but I wasn't expecting a 300 avg. because most position players struggle when they first play for the Cubs because of all the day games that they aren't use to. And in Miltons case he did switch leagues also and that's a little bit of an adjustment

Yep, same thing happened to Moises Alou. He absolutely sucked the first half of his first year. After that he was pretty damn good the rest of his contract.
