Chicago Invitational

This is huge for recruiting. It will make Coach Robinson's job that much easier to pull Chicago kids.

I wonder if the guys who run this tourney are a little TO'd that we are playing Duke in Chi-town later in the year. They probably would have gotten better attendance at this had that not happened.

I was thinking the same thing. It will have an affect.

Maybe? There are other teams in that tournament that should bring significant fanbases, plus that mid-week Duke date might not be real conducive to people who just took a bunch of PTO for the holidays. I doubt it hurts them that much.

I hope we end up playing Notre Dame. My older brother went to ND, I went to ISU. Would be nice to see the Irish and Clones match up. Then the Cyclones crush them.

Yeah, with ND there, I think ISU will not be their primary source of revenue.

I was going to say with ND and Northwestern, but I don't know how many Northwestern fans actually will come.

NW averaged 4883 in attendance in home attendance. I would suspect less for a Thanksgiving weekend game somewhat out of the way- maybe a couple thousand at best. ND should bring 5K or more given proximity, alumni base, and hype for the team. I think the Sears Centre seats around 10K, so if ISU brings a few thousand, and St. Louis a thousand or so, it could have pretty good ticket sales.

With this Duke game coming up now, I'm on the fence about whether or not to go to this tournament. I'll probably still go though considering we may not play around here for a while after these three games.

We're really trying to build off Colvin and develop a Chicago pipeline, huh? Sounds like a good plan that will raise our visibility nationally at the same time. A few bold moves could return some big rewards.
