Here nor there
We all know about HB, Doug, McCabe, Jordan, Creekmur, Staten, Paige, and Gessell. Has anyone seen/heard/have opinions on:

Will Artino- Scout says he is quite mobile and very fluid laterally, runs the floor well, and has a jump hook. He is a 2010, 6-10 big man. I think Creighton is looking at him.

Tavian Pomlee- Are we interested in LA's brother? 6-5 small forward, class of 2011. As expected, Scout says he is a high major, long-armed, athlete that "looks to attack of the dribble". I remember when we started to recruit LA, that some thought he would be the major talent of the family.

Donovan Stewart, PG- Scout seems to think he is a strong/solid pg. Plays for All-Iowa Attack. Class of 2011.

Adam Woodbury- 6-9 big man from Souix City. Iowa has offered, and Hawk fans think they will get him. Seems like he is a decent athlete with good skills for a freshman. Class of 2012.

Jose Bonilla - South Sioux City NE 6'10 C, teammate of Gessell, I think class of 2011.

Trayvonn Wright- Class of 2010, 6-8, really athletic. Creighton is looking.

I know Peter Jok is suppose to be at HB's level, but he is too young for me to track right now.

Creek is a good player when there are a lot of people around him. When those people graduated this year, he struggled at times because he felt the extra weight on his shoulder. I see him going to a mid-major D1 school.

Gessell is Nebraska...Woodbury is atleast 6'11 but i dont think Iowa State should offer (from experience playing against him), and Pomlee was hurt all of this year during conference play and really struggled. Hes fully recovered now and playing for Martin Bros. I will definatley be keeping my eye on Tavian this winter..

Are you saying you expect Gessell to go to Nebby?

We're looking at Wright, though right now he doesn't have much of a skill-set other than crazy hops...I've heard of Bonilla, don't know if ISU is recruiting him. We've backed off Tavian quite a bit....if he would grow to 6'8" or 6'9", I have a feeling we'd be a little bit more interested, as right now he doesn't have a ton of perimeter skills.
Donovine Stewart is a 5'7" point guard, who can manage a team with the best of them, but isn't really physically talented...seems to be the perfect fit for Iowa.

Does Wright play for Martin Brothers and have a crazy hightop fade haircut?

Did, but now he plays for the Attack.
Ok then im thinking of the right guy. He dunked it a couple times when they played us, but he didnt do much else. And Pomlee really didnt do too much either. Bonilla is just huge. The 16U Martin Brothers team is good but i think the 15Us would beat them. pretty easily actually.

If Paige played w/ the 15's, that is. I heard that Gessell was the fourth best freshman at the whole thing, behind, Perry Ellis, Staten, and Paige.

Yeah, pretty accurate although some think Gessell is better than Paige...Personally, I'm a fan of Paige.

I haven't seen Gessell play, but from what I can gather, he's taller, a better shooter, and more athletic than Paige. (He shoot 39% from three as a freshman., and high jumped over 6 feet as an 8th grader) However, Paige is better at running a team, he's quicker, he's smarter, and he's a better defender. Just about any college would be happy to have either. Gessell would have to be pretty dang good to be better than Paige though, from what I've seen of Paige.

I liked Paige when I watched the championship game last year. He was really quick.

Gessell lives in S. Souix City, Saten lives in Souix City. Saten plays with I think a Kansas AAU, while Gessell plays with Martin Brothers. To me, being a "in-state"recruit is not a big deal because you are "in-state", but local, and Gessell is just as local as Staten. I've also read that Gessell did really well in Kansas. If he grows to 6'4'' - 6'6'', he will be highly sought after.

Very true. I just have a really low opinion of Gessell from what i have seen of him. Obviously his numbers dont lie, so he is probably a great player. but when ive watched him he didnt play well at all...

9th graders have plenty of time to prove themselves...or fail to do so.

Nana Yaw

He should be playing with the Attack this year.

from team sullivans blogspot,

"Nana Yaw is from Ghana, Africa and joined our team in March 2009. He will be staying with us this spring & summer to train with Jake's All-Iowa Attack teams. We are currently working on securing him a student visa in the hopes that he can attend one year of highschool here in central Iowa."

Nana Yaw doesn't have anything besides athleticism...he wouldn't even play if he played on the Attack's A 17-U team!
