MLB: cubs finally pulling things together

even though Z just went on the DL, doesnt sound to serious, looks like the cubs are about to take their 4th straight game and the pitching and offense seem to have started clicking. suprising to see a little power from theriot with 3 hrs in 4 games... and now bradley is killing the ball, his average has sky rocketed to .130 :jimlad:

but seriously, things starting to look better. now its the cubs we expected to see coming into this season

That's why I was in the unconcerned category. May is just beginning, and there is sooo much baseball yet to play.

I figure that we have a stretch like the Cards stretch coming. They have a .500 stretch coming. It's the rest of the season that makes the difference.

Baseball--never too high, never too low, until the Cubs dish out the pain to the fans in October.:wideeyed:

I actually predicted a 10 game winning streak when Theriot hit the grand slam on Friday. Just felt that was really a turning point in the season (albeit early on). 40% of the way there...

It was only a matter of time before they started winning ballgames. The good thing is that our best hitters still aren't hitting.

the thing is that we just haven't been healthy, it seems like since the start of the season we've always had at least 2 guys out with an injury... we should be getting healthy soon though...

In their defense, every team but one loses it in the last month or before. I'd rather lose it in the playoffs (like the Cubs have done the past two years), than in July or August...

Totally opposite for me. I at least want to make a fight for it if I make the playoffs, not just rollover and die. Mind as well loose it in July in that case. Then you can trade off players and rebuild for next year.

it is a bit early to say they are pulling it together, but it is also way too early to say theyve blown the season.
 
Losing Z for a couple starts in May may not be the worst thing in the world. It might save some mileage and keep him fresher in September and the playoffs (hopefully). Better his hammy than his arm, especially left one.

The Cubs 9-9 start in MLB is about the same as an NFL team going 1-1 in the first 2 weeks of the season - hardly any room for concern. The Cubs showed their true colors against the NL East leaders (Marlins) winning 3 of 4, and now the cards are showing their true colors, getting spanked by the Phillies...

Yep right after Cards swept the Mets and took 3 of 4 from the Cubs... I know it's a long season and that's why you can't just count 2 games against the Phils

Cards took 2 out of 3 vs. the Cubs to make it 3 to 3 on the season. The Mets have been just short of pathetic with a losing record. Hell, the cards only split with the worst team in baseball - The "Natinals"!

They took 2 out of 3 from the Nationals.... the last one was postponed....
