Most likely scenarios as of now:

1. Bobby D returns to take the reigns for a few years with a "named" head coach in waiting as the top assistant. Several options are on the table for that assistant but the top choice is Joe Heskett.

2. Zeke Jones. Zeke is a candidate at his alma mater ASU as well. Zeke also interviewed with Penn State.

3. IF Jones goes to ASU, Kevin Jackson is a serious candidate for ISU.

Just what I heard today. Take it or leave it. Believe me if you want. I don't care.

Those are certainly reasonable possibilities and none named Brands.... so they sound good.

I wouldnt mind if any of those happened, but I'd rather #1. not happen. I think BD is a tad too old, and I would like someone super aggressive as some of our guys have been a tad passive recently.

Out of the loop. Just curious, is Bobby still around Ames? What about Kevin?

One thing I forgot is that scenario #1 could also play out but with Gibbons as the short term head coach. I would not be a big fan of this. Jim is a great individual but we are a top 5 wrestling program. We don't need to hire someone who has been selling investments for the past 15 years.

Other names in the mix are Marty Morgan, Bono and Zalesky. They are back burner names for now, I think. Morgan would be interesting but I'm afraid he is J's eventual replacement. Bono would be a decent choice. The thought of Zalesky does not excite me.

Of course, this is very fluid. What I heard today could be outdated news by now. Minds change and opinions with them in situations like this.

Why the need to have Heskitt come in under Bobby for a few years, but that this Zeke fella or Jackson get the job right away?

Experience.

BTW..."Zeke fella"? Seriously?

At any rate, the new flavors of the day are Terry Brands and Joe Heskett--without the "internship" of working under Bobby.

I like how these things change, seemingly by the hour. My money is on Heskett today.

We might get to hear the "stop wasting time riding and let your guy up so you can take him down again you idiot" whistle once more from Bobby D.

Sorry I don't live, eat and breath wrestling. Honestly don't care about it much at all aside from the current.

So forgive my ignorance. I'll go back to not caring - which is I'm sure what ISU wants...

How about Mike Van Arsdale. Still ultra competitive. Great wrestler. Has good name recognition. Super nice guy.

I actually am nominating Mike because he is my friend so don't blast away at me.

No way there will be an interim head coach for a few years. I know "interim" is the most widely used job title at ISU, but you don't put off hiring a head coach -- especially after the way the vacancy happened -- for a few years. You might as well shut down the program.
