Roland-Story its 2a we lost to solon 24-7 and they went on to win the championship by 50.
Was ahead 13-0 at halftime in the class 2A state championship game in 1996. Lost 20-13 
My brother was on a runner up team in 2000 and won one in 2001. I was the color guy in the radio booth for both of them and beat the crap out of my brother growing up so I kind of felt a part of it.

My sophmore year beat West Lyon in the state title 14-10 they had Lavar Woods and Kyle Vanden Bosch on that team. We had an 8 minute 90 yard TD drive to win the game with 20 seconds left.

Wayyyy back. Member of 1979 3A basketball champs. Dowling. We had former hawkeye Bobby Hansen. Eventhough he went to Iowa, he was pretty amazing. I don't remember it being anything like HB, but we used to get a number of big time D1 coaches at our practices.

Darren Natjes (spelling)...we kept them out of the playoffs on a crazy scoring technicality my junior year (fall 1997) and there were articles all over the register about how they wanted to play us for the right to go to the playoffs...he was a horse in everything though, big boy could run!:yes:
I was on the sophomore team for Marshalltown when the varsity won state in baseball in 1985. Does that count?:smile: They won again in 86 but I was too busy smoking dope at that time.:biggrin:
Sigourney-Keota it was 1995. On kind of a sad note from what my dad told me it sounds like next year may be the last year Sigourney and Keota are together for football.

Mediapolis...that year we got into the playoffs by one point on the margin of victory tie-break over West Lyon. The big issue was that our last game went to OT, we got a TD and a 2 pt conversion. Then got a pick and on the runback they called a hold on us. Instead of ending the game there, they gave the ball back to the other team. They scored and got the conversion to tie. On their next possession we held them and then scored a TD. The game should have ended there, but making up for their earlier botched call the refs let us go for 2. Obviously West Lyon wasn't happy about it but had it gone the other way we'd have had a beef also on the hold call giving them the ball back. At state track that year their athletes were talking crap the entire time to us like it was our fault the refs had allowed it :biglaugh:
