Hawkeye assistant coaches are announcing that the former Hawk QB (McNutt I think) is being listed as a starting wide receiver taking the spot of DJK. No note as to whether DJK is playing poorly or if McNutt is just that good, but surprising none the less.

DJK will be the starter. However, McNutt has apparently been playing out of his mind, which is good news for Hawkeye fans. Stross has also made strides, apparently.

This is merely a motivational move by the coaches to push a player who has the "Allen Iverson" approach to practice. He'll be Iowa's leading receiver and Stanzi's favorite target again this year.

Says the guy that based his screen name on said player.

Translation: This is my biased opinion.

He shouldn't have the AI approach, he isn't that good. AI is good enough to get away w/ it for the most part. So far DJK has been nothing more than an internet legend

Shouldn't this post be on the "man crush" thread?

I do agree with DJK in that it is likely a motivational tool, but all the same it is intriguing that McNutt has progressed enuff in Bowl prep and spring to even be “used” as a tool. DJK is no superstar (with effort who knows) but he is a more than serviceable major conference WR so McNutt or even Stross/Sandeman pushing him is a good thing for sure.

After perusing the Iowa board for the 1st time in a month, among other various news services, it seems the wide outs have impressed which as Iowa & ISU fan alike knows has never been an Iowa strong suit.

Too me the 3 most telling things about Iowa’s 2-deeps (which are typically useless by the way) are that Cheney dug himself far enuff out of the doghouse to have a great track season and good enuff spring to make it on the 2 deeps at WR.

2nd Dace Richardson is indeed on the 2 deeps at O-guard and he will only help a good, deep line.

3rdly the coaches are apparently high enuff on the D-tackles that they haven’t even “tried” the 280 lb plus DE’s inside. Us “Internet” coaches had already moved one of them down, and though it seems plausible they didn’t even try. I think the D-tackles will be pretty solid.

This is good news for Iowa fans: depth at the wide receiver position was a bit of a concern going into next season. Although DJK is my favorite player, it's not every day that you see a guy with 1,000 career receiving yards getting passed up by a guy who originally came to Iowa as a QB.
