Amen! It's always funny when you're talking to someone at a party and they'll go "yeah... I'm from a little town in north central Iowa. I'm sure you've never heard of it." and I say "try me".
I actually went to high school in Rochester. My mom worked up there. Bit of a drive. We lived right on the edge of the Riceville and St. Ansgar districts. Most people I know from Osage I met at ISU actually.
Yeah I know the Lewis Family, I live in the area and farm part time with my father-inlaw, work in New Hampton. I also know the whole Niess clan...Did you go to high school in Osage?
Wow! Small world (and small towns). Once in awhile I come across a fellow Mitchell County-an on the board. Still live in the area? I know some people from that area. The Niess's are my dad's cousins, and I'm good friends with Brian (Mike's son) Lewis.
Considering most of us started out as Iowa fans? :biglaugh: (I grew up an Iowa fan, so I've seen both sides of it, especially over the last 15 years since I converted to Cyclone fan and the modicum of success I've seen over that time)

Once again, it's an area where common Cyclone fan thinks that their **** doesn't stink - they rip Iowa fans for what they rip them for, but when it all boils down they're no different than them...
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. I would just prefer to think (well, maybe just hope) the majority of our fanbase knows well enough to not fall into the grandiose sense of self that we so often criticize the hawks of.
If you had been around this site for the "fire Danny Mac" tirade a year before you joined and the sense of "entitlement" a lot of those arguing carried in their arguments, you might be of a different opinion.

There certainly is a sense of "entitlement" when it comes to ISU athletics - our teams should win and win now and neither we nor the athletic department should have to spend an extra cent to do it.
Hey. I was reading some random posts and came across one that you wrote and realized your name said LindenCy. I guess i just kind of assume that you have or do live there so yea. I'm going to be living in Linden this next year and was curious if it is at all good or what.
Everyone I knew in high school creamed their pants over DMB, so I was a little hesitant by nature. Started listening to them sparingly freshman year at State (03/04) and became a big fan after seeing them at Hilton with My Morning Jacket and Ben Harper in fall of 2004 (my sophomore year). One of the best concerts I've ever seen. About an hour in, Neil Young just wanders out on stage, Dave introduces him, and Hilton goes crazy. Neil jammed with them for about 40 minutes. ******* awesome. But yeah, the old stuff is definitely the best. Under the Table, Crash, and Before These Crowded Streets are great, but Big Whiskey is right up there with them.
I was very surprised by big whiskey, i said what the hell, its ten bucks, might as well, and i love it...its been awhile since hes put out a good all around album. About a year ago i got hooked on the dmb wagon, i never really listened to him until my buddy got me into it, and then i started listening to his old stuff and have really gotten into it.
