ISU Items For Auction

Hey fellow Fanatics! The young alumni group from the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department are having a social event at the Blank Park Zoo on August 21. This is part of the ongoing Zoo Brew series.

In order to raise money for their organization, they are having an auction. I made two items for this auction that I thought folks on here might be interested in bidding on.

Item #1 is a Jack Trice themed sign that measures approximately 21" tall by 15" wide.

Item #2 is a Thor themed mallet with CYCLONES on one side and POWER on the other. This one is beefy; at approximately 2 ft long and weighing about 10 lbs.

If you're interested in bidding, you can find more about their event here: https://www.ccee.iastate.edu/events/isu-ccee-gold-alumni-zoo-brew-2/

I do believe you have to attend to bid, though. Go Cyclones!

Question on Oil changes

my daughter has her school permit and drives 1 mile to school and 1 mile back. I bought her a car 8 months ago. I have not had the oil changed since she drives such fee miles. Do I need to have it changed based on how old the oil is or should I just be concerned about the miles she drives it? She has put about 1500 miles on it.

9 Freshmen to know before 2019-20 wrestling season

Ryan Anderson, Iowa State
Iowa State put together a solid season last year under the direction of head coach Kevin Dresser, and the Cyclones added another top recruit in two-time Pennsylvania state champion Anderson. A graduate of Bethlehem Catholic, Anderson ran through the 145-pound brackets the last two years at the high school level and will look to carry his success to the collegiate stage. Iowa State finished with two All-Americans last year, but they have not had a national champion since 2015. Will Anderson be the one? He's been tested against national competition at Super 32s, a high school tournament that he won, and Ironman, and is considered by Dresser to be a point scorer who will please the crowd in Ames, according to a team release. Anderson is expected to wrestle at 141 or 149 pounds and could take a redshirt this year. Those two weights were filled by NCAA qualifier Ian Parker and All-American Jarrett Degen last year, so Anderson might spend this year training and acclimating, but he could be a powerful force for the Cyclones down the line.

Need Advice on Electrical/Circuit Breaker Issue

Came home from lunch and found that the lights in my bathroom & bedrooms were off, would not turn on. Went to circuit board and found that breaker #6 had tripped, so I reset it. This was around 3 PM.

Since then, large parts of my house have been behaving ... oddly. Mainly the Air Conditioner (which isn't even on the same circuit).

Issue #1: The HVAC unit has the fan on all the time, but it's barely going at 25% of it's normal spin (can tell by the noise it makes). The outside unit is fine, and seems to be producing plenty of "coldness." It's just not circulating well. If I turn on the basement lights, the fan on the AC ramps up. The more lights I turn on in the basement, the better the air circulates and I can get the fan up to about 75% of normal operation! Weird, huh?

Issue #2: The lights in the bathrooms are flickering, and the more "stuff" you turn on the worse they get. So in this case, like the exhaust fan takes power away from the lights and vice versa. (same breaker as the bedrooms, so this impacts my computer monitors too -- shut them off to not ruin them.)

No breakers have tripped since then.

I called MidAmerican and they sent a guy out, but he won't come inside, and will only check outside. He said he checked the box on my wall, the pole, and the underground transfer box, and all were fine. He said my house is getting power at something like 118 out of 120 "normal units" (of something...) so close to normal, and he said probably just too many people in the neighborhood using power.

I don't buy his explanation, as we've had way hotter days than this.

Please provide input or help me diagnose what's wrong!!!

thanks!

Lightshow during WV game last year

Ever since last year's WV game, I've been trying to find some good footage of the awesome lightshow the fans put on during the playing of "Juicy Wiggle" after the Purdy to Jones TD. Live and in person it was one of my favorite moments EVER inside Jack Trice. Gave me goosebumps.

For those that weren't there, or haven't seen it, this might be one of the best videos of it. Go to the 56:55 mark and keep watching until after the kick off is over.....

Does anyone else have any good videos of it??
