Hakeem Butler not playing

I checked the stats and Hakeem Butler has only played in 1 of the 2 games and it looks like the last one must have been very late. He has no catches so far. I am assuming he is just not NFL caliber since he is playing on a team that is not very good and he is still not even playing in the pre-season. I wonder if most of the issue is that he has too many drops. Dropping easy catches was definitely an issue at ISU for him.

Trading in Golf Clubs

Does anyone have a good place to trade in or sell golf clubs? I inherited two sets of fairly new and good quality sets but they are left handed so I can't use them. Since I don't have a nice set of clubs of my own I want to know what my options are for trading them in and where I can get the best value for them in the Des Moines area.

RV Donor Lots - Where to Park Towed Car

If you have a drive-able RV, the official ISU stance is no towed cars can be parked with RV's in the RV donor lot. You CAN keep your truck/SUV/other in the lot if you have a pull behind, a policy the nice lady told me was put into effect when they had a fire and they couldn't move the campers.

We tow our car so looking for a place to park the car, especially with the City of Ames newly minted NO PARKING on game day map out.

This would really only apply to Friday night as after the game on Saturdays I've never seen anyone policing the lots for passes as most have gone home.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hy-Vee: Where There's a Helpful Credit Card Skimmer in Every Point of Sale Terminal

I think the Register mentioned the Hy-Vee data breach a week or two ago but this story dives more into the severity of this breach. Not good for Hyde and Vredenburg, not good at all.

1. I'm convinced that nobody out there can protect your data. It's just a matter of when and how severe the breach. You have to be vigilant about doing what you can to protect yourself.

2. I'm sure in the grand scheme of things Hy-Vee is doing just fine, but does it seem like they've been...I don't know...adrift a little these last few years? Going on all in the Market Grilles then scaling back, giving up store space to sell high-end clothes, this bizarre (to me, at least) love affair with Mark Wahlberg. Maybe it's just the fits and starts of trying to adapt to new consumer preferences but I often find myself wondering what's going on there. Or maybe I'm just pissed that they keep raising their prices on their Chinese entrees.

Declining job offer you verbally accepted.

Has anyone ever had to do this? I got offered a new job last week, this thurs I said yes. No paperwork, no start date. But then Friday I got a counter offer that pays more at a different place, has less travel, more vacation, is a few miles from my house, and seems like it would be fun.

So now do I just completely alienate the first one and tell them yeah, "no thanks?"

This weekend is gonna suck.

Next Year's (Tournament?) Team/Potential

I posted this in the Rasir Bolton thread but this is a topic I want to hear your thoughts on... Now that next year's roster is set in stone, do you think we're going back to the big tourney?

Guards
Prentiss
Tyrese
Bolton (assuming he gets the waiver)
Tre Jackson

Wings
T-Lew
Zion (can also play the 4)
Grill
Leech

Forwards
Conditt
Solo
Jacobson
Luke Anderson

I see this roster as having talent that's somewhere in the middle of our 17'-18' team and last year's bunch. I do think however, that team chemistry is an area that was not good last year, and could potentially drastically improve next year.

I don't see any clear cut #1's, or guys who are expected to carry the load day in and day out. That makes me excited, and I think that could lead us to see a more cohesive, dogged play-style. With that said, I think the roster has the ingredients to make the tournament and potentially surprise us in March. What do you guys think?

Yukon Cornelius Sings the Blues

After many years of touring the country, my brother has finally released his debut stand-up comedy album. He usually draws a good crowd and destroys every night, but for some reason he chose to record this particular show in which there were only about 25 people in attendance. It's still funny but definitely doesn't capture the reactions he normally gets from a crowd.

He will be doing gigs at the Funny Bone in Des Moines soon so check it out if you get a chance. Here's a link to his website where you can listen to his album and check tour dates...

On That Note - If You Want Me, Just Whistle

Hey all,

Welcome to another weekly edition of On That Note. We take turns doing the heavy lifting every week; and to mix a couple metaphors - this week I'm in the barrel. The other guys who host are @cyclones500 and @CycloneRulzzz.

Last week we did the drum thing - find the post here:

https://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/on-that-note-bang-on-the-drum.249568/

This week I've dreamt up another off the wall idea. Songs that contain whistling. Like the previous episode I hosted about talking at the beginning of songs, I initially thought this was too limiting. But again my buddies on the team came through with multiple multiple examples, so I/we've decided to go for it.

Of course there are two prime examples that I will NOT post that are whistled tunes basically from beginning to end. One is the theme song from a 1960's sitcom who's title is The Fishing Hole. The other is from an Oscar Best Picture winner about a group of British POW/Soldiers forced to build a bridge for the Japanese in WWII. I'll let you folks glom onto those puppies.

The title for this week's OTN is pulled from the movie To Have and To Have Not (Lauren Bacall quote) “If you want me, just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow."

Tailgating TV options

Next Saturday we want to tailgate in the lots after the game. However, we want to be able to watch some football too of course.

I know there are a lot of possibilities, but I'm not sure which options work best. What have you used that works well?

More specifically, we'll have a camper, Roku, Mohu leaf and potentially a hot spot available in addition to our tv. We dont have a satellite.

TIA
