What Iowa did to win, is What ISU didn’t

THAT was the difference in the game. Iowa converted a 3rd and 22 to get points later in the drive. ISU fumbled on a scoring drive which Iowa turned into a score before halftime (I believe). ISU jumped on a 4th and 3 only to punt into the end zone the next play.
Iowa made all FG attempts and ISU special teams were not at all special, just gross.
ISU has played two games of offense as if they want the defense to score for them- no urgency. 15 pts (regulation avg) will win zero big 12 games.
Iowa was the better team and who the game today. Iowa state has a lot to figure out if they will he in the top half of the big 12 this year.
VERY disappointing start! Our fans continue to show up and be awesome- they deserve better than the wheels falling off game of today.

Why don't we fair catch every kickoff?

If you fair catch a kick, you take it at the 25. How often do we ever return a kick past or even just up to the 25? This just seems like the smarter, easier way to go about it. A bad decision to take out a kick in the shallow part of the endzone left us with some awful field position yesterday, that's just one example. IIRC from the stat page, we only averaged ~15 yards/return.

Special teams in general hasn't been great for us, but this seems like a simple place for improvement without really any work involved. Sure, there's a chance to house a kickoff every now and then, but is one or maybe two a season really worth the trouble?

Ryan Adams fans

For all you Ryan Adams fans out there, have all the accusations against him made you feel any differently about him? For example- has anyone just quit listening to his music, etc?

I just hope he can get through all this and become a better person and start making music again and touring again for my own selfish reasons.

Anyone heard anything at all about him in the last 4 months or so?

3rd and long

TOE is 3rd and 22 inside the 10. We rush 3 players and give a senior QB all the time in the world to complete the pass. This is what Rhoads used to do and it drove me crazy then. How many times during that era did we watch the other QB scramble forever and then complete a long pass. I am not a coach and all these defensive schemes seem to look the same but why wouldn't we put pressure on Stanley to make a quick play instead of giving him time to find a receiver. Our pass defense is not that bad and I have to believe we can hold our own for 5-6 seconds on long coverage. We have a ton of keyboard coaches out here. Anyone care to explain the 3 man rush other than the obvious it gives us another DB to cover?

Lack of turnovers

Our D has played lights out through two games, but man, we cannot catch a break on creating turnovers. Rose had one that got away and Stanley through a jump ball that was an easy grab for three of our guys, yet no one made the play. It’s so frustrating as those are plays that win us the game. We are continuously in the right spot, just can’t get the ball to bounce our way.
