CRTC Fundraiser - Get on Our Tree - New updated video on July 16th

The Cyclone Regional Training Center and our ENTIRE program is branching out in so many ways!

To accomplish all of our goals and MORE I am releasing our first real fundraising campaign.

On top of completing a pretty good season on the mat, you probably saw that earlier this month we acquired a brand new 4-plex townhouse in Ames! We have athletes occupying our C-RTC Olympic House now.

It is my wish at this point to bring on board another post-graduate RTC Athlete who will train in Ames and live at the 4-plex.

TO do that AND to address the many areas of our program that are exploding right now, I thought it was time to release a stellar fundraising campaign. Please enjoy this short VIDEO introducing and explaining our 2019 Campaign: The RTC Tree.

Our 2019 goal is $750,000 and as you will see, we already are 30 percent of the way there before we have even formally kicked off this campaign. Check out the perks and gifts we are providing at each giving level to those who help us reach our goal. You can go to our website HERE for more info.

The funds we raise will support all our athletes -- post-graduate competitors, current college athletes, all the way down to qualified high school athletes who live within a 250-mile radius of Ames and train at the C-RTC.

If you are reading this, we want you! Jump on the RTC tree NOW and help us sustain the wrestling progress in Ames, Iowa!

Coach Dresser

So what time did everyone get to Ames yesterday and then get back home?

We left Southern Iowa around 3:30, stopped by Casey's to get ice for the coolers and headed to Ames, we got inside to park about 5:50 or so. The handicapped lot was well over 3/4th full at that time. They tried to park us by the number on the stickers, it that was a complete cluster, so they gave up. Son and friend got to the same lot at 4:50, they were the 4th car in line to park.

Great day of tailgating, it was neat to watch Gameday on the TV, walked over by the spot and it was a zoo.

Rolled into the garage at 1:00 AM, thank god the wife said she would drive home, was a long day, but well worth it, short of ISU peeing down their legs with the fumbles.
So how about the rest of you.

Investment Buckets

I’m a recent 23 YO college grad with no college debt.

What is everyone doing for investment allocations to 401k/IRA/Savings etc?

I’ve been maxing out my Roth IRA and traditional 401k then putting anything left in savings. 99% index funds and 1% bonds in all accounts. Have an emergency fund in a High Yield Savings account built up and am living pretty cheaply compared to a lot of my coworkers...trying to save now so I don’t have to worry later.

What are you doing for retirement and other savings goals? Curious to hear some other perspectives.

Kansas did what?

Kansas blew the doors off or Boston College last night on the road 48-24, just 6 days after losing at home to Coastal Carolina 12-7. They were 20 point underdogs, yet proceeded to take BC to the woodshed.

Maybe it's a sign of improvement, maybe it was a Friday the 13th aberration under a full moon. But it was nice that for one night, Kansas was a good, enjoyable football team to watch.

Bizarroland.

Favorite Fan Interaction with Coach/Player

Thought this made for for good off season forum fodder.

My favorite one was a relatively long conversation I had with Montgomery last tailgate tour. That guy is absolutely the real deal and I was extremely impressed with his genuine care for talking with fans and kids. I couldn't be happier to root for him this year and am glad he's Clone.

My old man tells the story of a time he saw Johnny eating at a small town diner in western Iowa about the time Wayne Morgan just got hired as HC. My dad approached him, said Hi, and asked him about Wayne. Johnny released profanity laden tirade of his disgust with the hire and how the program was headed "right down grandpa's sh*t house". RIP Johnny. One of a kind and truly missed.

Student Section on the Field During Delay

Now that most people are over the knee jerk overreactions to the loss and whined about everything under the sun, I was wondering what people's thoughts, reactions, and opinions were to the students going onto the field during the Iowa game.

I was not inside the stadium when it happened and just heard John Walter's call on it. He was pretty disgusted.

At first I figured it was like 5-10 students who did this from the radio call, but today I saw someone's video and it looked like a majority of the student section spilled out.

It looked pretty bad, both in terms of respect from the student section, and poor security not stopping it to the point it got, however I have to admit that back in the day if I was a student during this, I'd sadly probably be right out there too.

How was the reaction inside the stadium? How long were they actually on the field and how was it managed/received?
