Leave it to California

I lived there for 30 years. One of my best friends is deep inside the Pac-12 office. Since Larry Scott took over things have digressed. So, in a desperate move to regain sports status, California is the first over the cliff. They now are setting the precedence for paying college athletes. This is going to be one very messy and complicated thing now. The cost to control under the counter deals just got allot more complicated. As you can see, I'm totally against this idea.

NFL: NFL Survivor Game Week 2

69 entered and for second straight year there was some first week carnage. Detroit, Denver, Cleveland and the Jets eliminated 18 people and we are down to 51.



Below are the rules.

  1. Pick a team you think will win that weeks game. Pick only 1 team per week.
  2. Don't pm me the pick, post on here you pick.
  3. You can only pick that team ONCE the entire time you are in the game.
  4. The goal is to advance and be the last person standing.
  5. You have up until the start time of the game you picked to switch When making a switch please edit your original pick post. If you make a second post I will take that as your switching picks.
  6. If your team loses or ties, you are out for the competition.
  7. If you skip a week of picks, you are out.
  8. You can switch as many times up until the game you have picked officially starts.
  9. If you have questions, pm me
  10. Post 2 of the thread will have players left and who they have picked.
  11. Post 3 of the thread will have the possible games you can pick.
  12. You can't join in during the middle of the season.

Blum: Turnovers Article

Some interesting and fun stuff in Blum's article about turnovers. 3rd and anything over 5 yards killed us. Seems we would like 3rd and long, but its our Achilles heel. Poor decisions (i.e. mistakes) were critical in this outcome. We can talk about the kick return and ensuing horrible punt. Another I would add is some really bad tackling by one or two defenders. The one that stood out to me (boy he had an over all bad game!) was good old #2 Datrone Young. We can focus on his taking out our own punt returner, but I counted 4-5 wiffs on open field tackles that really hurt us.

Ant or Termite Infestation? / Am I doomed?

I found these critters exploding out of a crevice outside our house where a concrete slab meets the basement foundation wall and the driveway. Basically, the intersection of those places. We live in Ames. What kind of ants are these, or are they termites? Can someone identify? There were literally thousands exploding out. It was alarming. I appreciate the knowledge on this board very much.

Once identified, my second question would be: am I doomed? Hah! We have a brick house with a wood patio area that seemed to be infested with carpenter ants but when we had a bug inspector several years ago come out he basically shrugged and thought it was no big deal. Maybe these are carpenter ants?

Best Cell Service inside game and tailgaiting?

What is the best cell service that people use during the tailgate and game and what issues did you have. With 60k to 100k people around a small area I can understand that problems with communication can arise. But with everyone trying to download radars to see the rain, to twitter, Facebook, and Instagram it became difficult. I have US Cellular and was able to text and call but everything else was totally un-accessible. Is there something better out there.
