Iowa St.

Steve Prohm has taken Iowa State to the NCAAs in three of his previous four seasons in Ames, earning a No. 4, 5 and 6 seed. I'm a bit higher on the Clones this season than most, but don't expect them to get into the Big Dance with such a good seed. There are a lot of talented point guards across college basketball, but few will have as much responsibility or direct causation for their team's success like Tyrese Haliburton, whose sophomore-season breakout we should all see coming from 20 miles away.

Crown a New Loser - Coaches

I got to thinking, with our unanimous most hated coach off to Houston, who does Cyclone Fanatic hate the most. Post your Big 12 coach rankings from love to hate below:

1.) Matt Campbell - Pretty sure I love this man more than some of my own family members. What he stands for as a man makes him the best representative this University could ask for. Not to mention what he has done for my favorite sports child (Iowa State football).

2.) Mike Gundy - The mullet is unique and I love his honesty.

3.) Lincoln Riley - He finally rid the conference of a hated hawk. Seems like a genuine guy and I have a weird soft spot for OU with big game Bob gone.

4.) Gary Patterson - Seems to hold his players accountable and always gives us credit when we beat them.

5.) Les Miles - Quirky guy that is always good for a laugh or two.

6.) Chris Klieman - Born winner and its proven with his success at NDSU.

7.) Matt Wells - I've heard great things about him. Seems to be a class act.

8.) Neal Brown - Don't know much about him, which already makes him better than my bottom two.

9.) Matt Rhule - Whiny little ***** boy who put our players in danger by having the conference make us take down our tents. Not to mention the dirty **** his players pulled in Ames last year. Seems like a slimeball the way he flirts with NFL teams every chance he gets. Move on and let Rapelor fall to the bottom of the conference again, where they belong.

10.) Tom Herman - Dude is a real life cuck/swinger, was porking "recruiting girls", seems to enjoy bashing Ames and Iowa State any chance he gets, and is an overall douche. Horns down loser.

Where is this program at the start of 2020?

My predictions:

5 seasons of football (2015,2016,2017,2018,2019)

Conference=Still big 12 but with 12 teams
Number of bowls=One
Coach=Not Rhoads
AD=Pollard
Season Average Attendance=41k (2013 was 55k for reference)
Weeks in the top 25=Zero
Record=20-41

If you would have made this same guess in 2005 for the 2006-2010 season the W/L would have been 21-42

If you would have made this same guess in 2009 for the 2010-2014 season the W/L would have been 22-40 (assuming ISU loses out).

Your predictions?

Homefield

So this is cool... @JStanz51 advertised this site on one of the podcasts so I went to check them out.

https://www.homefieldapparel.com/collections/vintage-iowa-state-store

The gear is pretty cool, but even better, they don't have toe apparel on their site (yet). Kind of cool that ISU got on their site first.

Here is the right up they have on Iowa State:

"ISU is Iowa's largest university, and has a rich history of incredible vintage logos that we've implemented here, and will continue to implement. ISU has one of the best home basketball environments in Hilton Coliseum, where "Hilton Magic" seems to always knock off top-ranked teams."

NFL: ***Official Week Eight Thread***

Gets going tonight with the Redskins @ the Vikings. Minny is in a bit of a groove, and even without Thielen tonight they should be able to handle the Skins pretty easily. I think with Kirk Cousins you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop but I don't think it'll be tonight.

Not much else of interest on the schedule. Maybe Browns @ Patriots just because the Pats finally play a team with some legitimate talent, but Cleveland has so many issues right now it's hard to take them seriously.

Packers @ Chiefs, maybe. Mahomes was already back at practice yesterday as a limited participant. I would guess they're going to play it safe with him and hold him out for at least this week, but if he does play then that game suddenly gets a lot more interesting. FWIW I don't think he's going to play; this is probably just gamesmanship to make the Packers prepare for both quarterbacks. We'll see.

Monday night brings us possibly the worst MNF game of the season - Dolphins @ Steelers. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Mason Rudolph. Good luck dressing that one up, ESPN.

FINALLY!

It’s been a long offseason, with many changes and enhancements to WrestleStat. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard….(hint #FCW).
But, let’s get to the topic-at-hand, we have our opening weekend of dual comparisons!

ISU WBB Picked to finish 4th in Big 12

https://big12sports.com/news/2019/1...bed-as-preseason-favorite-in-big-12-poll.aspx

1. Baylor (9) 81
2. Texas (1) 71
3. West Virginia 66
4. Iowa State 49
5. K-State 47
6. Oklahoma State 39
7. Oklahoma 34
8. TCU 27
9. Texas Tech 26
10. Kansas 10

Honestly, I think 2-8 is up for grabs. 2 for Texas is generous IMO as Aston continues to underperform in getting the results out of the wealth of talent she has. Williams and White were her hardest workers last year and are gone.
