Heads up on radio for tomorrow (11-9-19)

Just a quick heads up on this as it might get confusing.

The Cyclone Radio Network will have a minor overlap tomorrow with basketball and football. Some affiliates might not be carrying basketball. If you have a question, call your affiliate to ask.

We will have the entire basketball broadcast on TuneIn for sure. It will be on 1460 KXnO in Des Moines instead of the Bus.

Many affiliates will likely carry MBB play by play and cut out of postgame to get to football.

A bit confusing but that's where we are at.

Big 12 Basketball last night

KU looks like a team that when they put it all together could dominate. They played so sloppy last night with 28 TOs and still almost won the game against Duke.

Really awesome to see Andrew Jones of Texas back and playing well.

Baylor dominated as expected.

KSU looked like they struggled.

Tech and OU look like they have really good Freshman guards in Ramsey and Harmon.

The Cowboys' best-ever chance at finishing No. 1 went awry on a Friday night in Ames. The Cowboys went ahead by 17 points in the third quarter. But Iowa State scored a touchdown with 5:30 left to tie it. After trading TDs in the first over time, Ter'Ran Benton picked off Brandon Weeden to set the stage for Cyclones' RB Jeff Woody's winning 4-yard TD run.

Buying NBA tickets

Trying to get some friends together to go up to a Bucks/76ers game early next year in Milwaukee. Originally just a couple of us were going, nosebleed seats were around 60 bucks. We gained a few more guys and our ranks have swollen to 5, and the price for the same seats went up to 100 per.

We are a group of casual NBA fans, and none of us are bucks/sixers fans, so the 100 dollar price tag isn't very appealing. These prices are from apps like vivid seats, stub hub, seat geak etc. Does anyone have ideas where else we could look, to save a few bucks. Has anyone had success buying from scalpers?

Sturgill Simpson "Sound and Fury" Album

Anyone else digging this? Sturgill is the most diverse artist (musically) out there today. It is a great rock album. Lyrically he can put them together with the best of them. He did have a quote once that was something along the line of "No matter what I put it out it will be country because of my voice." I think he is pretty wrong, because this is far from country, but man, that raspy drawl still makes it closer than I think he wanted.

Got student tickets for Iowa...when to arrive?

I bought a couple student tickets to the ISU/Iowa basketball game on the Ticket Exchange Facebook group. Never done that before. Decided to message Athletics to see if I needed a student ID at the door. They said they oversell the student tickets and have turned some people away for Iowa games in the past.

We are driving from 2 hours away, trying to determine - when do we need to arrive so we're sure to get into the game?

2018-2019 computer projections thread

I thought I would make a thread for updating projections throughout the season. This comes up across several threads, so I thought to centralize it here for everybody.

Some of this will be predictive on a game-by-game or season basis, some of this will be chances of making the tournament, some of this will be bracketology, and everything else.

:)

After going 2-1 on Maui...

KemPom has us #19 in the country with the #18 offense and #30 defense.

Barttovik has us #18 in the country.

Additionally, that ranking system gave us a perfect score of 100 for our game against San Diego State. That score basically means you played like a Top 5 team that night.

The 96 against UIUC and the 95 against the Tigers were also impressive. Anything 90+ usually gives you a good chance to win a Big 12 game, and 95+ almost guarantees it.

We have five cupcakes coming up and a surprisingly salty Iowa, which their system gives us a 41% chance to win right now. All goes well, we should be 10-2 or 11-1 going into Big 12 play, which puts us in excellent position for fighting for an NCAA tournament berth.

If we split Iowa and Ole Miss, we could go 9-9 (or even 8-10) in the Big 12 and comfortably make the tournament without much for heroics down in Kansas City.

Their projections (not a bracketology if the tournament started today, but their projections once the season has played itself out) have us on the #4 or #5 line right now...

That collapse against Arizona was still frustrating, but I think the Maui trip was overall a successful one. Combine 2-1 with the win over Missouri, and we are on the right track.
