Big 12 FB Mailbag from UT: Love for ISU tailgate scene

"Before I begin, I just want to thank Cyclone Nation for showing me a great time up in Iowa. I got to check out Exile Brewing, Barn Town Brewing as well as El Bait Shop which was awesome. Nor to mention, a pork tenderloin sandwich from Nick’s. I still am trying to figure out how to get my hands on some of Hannah beer from Exile down here in Texas. Anyways, Cheers!"

WHAT WAS THE MOST SURPRISING, OR JUST DIFFERENT THAN EXPECTED THING ABOUT VISITING AMES FOR A GAME?
Duke: From a media standpoint, it was very different setup wise I’ll say that. So, it took a bit to get used to where everything was since it was very spread out and there appeared to be still some thing under construction around the stadium. However, the
fans, the tailgates and the environment were awesome. I have been to several Big 12 stadiums including all the ones here in Texas and let me tell you, the tailgate scene in Ames around Jack Trice is above and beyond the places I have been to. What’s even crazier is that when I went this past weekend, the grass lots were closed so I could only imagine what it would have looked like when it was completely full. But man, the friendliness of the people was unreal, and I felt like I could have stopped at any tailgate and they would have welcomed me with a beer and some good food. It truly is a family atmosphere and the passion is insane. I told several people this up there but because of people being so nice, I felt like a long-lost son up there.

GameDay Questions

Hey everyone,

This is my first Iowa State football game as an alumni, used to just walk to the games while I was in college. The public parking at VetMed opens up 5 hours before kickoff, is that still the case? So 9:30 this Saturday for $20?

Not sure how much has changed in a few years, but I'm taking my girlfriend (Texas fan... yuck), so was wondering if anything new or exciting has opened up in Ames that is a must go. (We'll be flying into Des Moines on Friday and renting a car, so proximity to Ames isn't an issue)

Thanks all

I don’t have any insider information, but the coaches stopping contact seems, to me, like a self imposed punishment for a minor recruiting infraction. If that is the case, it’s a shame because it seems like ISU is his dream school since he committed early to make sure he had a spot on the team if the coaching staff left. Since Pollard finds it mature for commits to inform him of their decision, somebody from the AD office or coaching staff should be mature enough to contact the young man and let him know what’s going on. He deserves to know and should get closure to the situation.

Texas Southern

Very unfortunate situation for their team.

The Tigers had their game uniforms stolen before the game Saturday and any hope of an upset over No. 1 Oregon vanished early.
The jerseys were left in a conference room while the Tigers watched video in the morning.
We came back to the holding room, they were gone,” she said. “We looked everywhere for them” with the assistance of hotel staff and the Eugene police but the search came up futile and the Tigers played in their practice gear.

Texas Southern is at Iowa State on Tuesday, and a new set of uniforms will be shipped there, Cooper-Dyke said

ISU vs KSU game time?

Either 2:30 or 6? IIRC there is someone on here that generally has this figured out.
